Our Miss Brooks: “April Fool’s Day” originally aired on CBS on April 3, 1949. Cataloged as episode 35, this comedy stars Eve Arden as Madison High English teacher Connie Brooks, with Jeff Chandler as the ever-bashful Mr. Boynton and Gale Gordon as Principal Osgood Conklin.
It’s April Fool’s Day, and Walter Denton and Harriet Conklin decide Connie needs help becoming more outgoing around Mr. Boynton. Their solution is a Conklin household party where every guest is expected to perform—creating plenty of opportunity for schoolroom rivalry, party jitters, and comic misunderstandings. Written and directed by Al Lewis, the episode is also known by the alternate titles “Special Party” and “Talent.”
