Purity culture doesn’t just shape how we see sex—it shapes how we see ourselves as women, wives, and mothers. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Ashley Hudson, therapist, coach, and founder of Pearl in Process, to talk about how “good girl theology” follows women long after the wedding night. Together we unpack how purity culture influences pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—the moments when women are most vulnerable and most in need of grace. With warmth, humor, and clinical insight, Dr. Ashley helps us explore: 💔 Why Christian women often feel guilt or shame after giving birth 🧠 How spiritual beliefs impact body trust and postpartum recovery 💪 What true healing looks like when faith and freedom finally meet If you’ve ever felt pressure to be the “perfect Christian mom,” this conversation will help you breathe again. Trigger warning for topics of purity culture & abuse.

The news this week is rife with stories of sexual harm. And we NEED to talk to our kids about sexual harm - but we need to get it right. Last week, I talked to Kristen Miele of Sex Ed Reclaimed, and we discussed how porn is connected to male entitlement, and leads to a path of sexual abuse. But, in this conversation with Sarah McDugal, we talked about what happens when the message "porn is abuse" goes too far. Just like purity culture took a good and correct message and harmed girls by taking things too far - are we doing the same thing with our sons, by saying that anyone who has seen porn is an abuser? And what happens when we use language that doesn't accurately describe the harm we are trying to prevent? If we want to protect our children from sexual harm, we need to understand what sexual harm actually is. That means teaching consent clearly, recognizing abuse for what it is, and refusing to let fear replace education. Because getting this wrong doesn't just create bad arguments on the internet. It can affect how people understand their own experiences, how they treat others, and whether they recognize when something is actually wrong. As a note: This conversation is in no way making porn use okay. It is discussing HOW we talk about porn and related issues with our son. It is a nuanced conversation, and we hope it brings clarity to the conversations you will have with your children.

Welcome back to Season 3 of The Go Have Good Sex Podcast. I had a completely different episode planned for this first one, but with all of the news about the Cornell 7 sexual assault case dominating my newsfeed, I knew we needed to talk about it. Specifically, how do we teach our kids about consent? No one looks at their sweet baby in their arms and thinks that one day they could grow up to coordinate a gang rape on SnapChat. But it happens. So how do we teach our kids about consent when they are young? Kristen Miele, founder of Sex Ed Reclaimed is joining me today to talk about why consent is more than "no means no," group think, and seeing others as an image bearer of Christ, rather than something for personal consumption. Because teaching kids about consent isn’t teaching them to have sex. It’s teaching them that their bodies matter, other people’s bodies matter, and healthy relationships require respect, communication, and consent.

Some of the best conversations happen when you ask the questions. In this Ask Me Anything episode, I tackle four honest questions that many Christians are asking but few feel comfortable saying out loud. What do you do when purity culture left you without the words to tell your spouse what you want in the bedroom? How do you reconnect after having a baby when exhaustion, different schedules, and a baby in your room seem to kill every opportunity for intimacy? What if you're an autistic husband who struggles to recognize your wife's signals or initiate sex? And how do you parent with both truth and grace when your child makes a sexual decision you never wanted for them? This episode is full of practical advice, biblical perspective, and plenty of reassurance that healthy intimacy isn't about perfection—it's about learning, growing, communicating, and extending grace to ourselves and the people we love. Whether you're healing from purity culture, navigating a new season of marriage, or wrestling with questions you've never known how to ask, this conversation will remind you that you're not alone. This is the final episode of Season 2 of the Go Have Good Sex Podcast. I am taking a break for the summer, and will be back in the fall with lots of new conversations about sex & intimacy in Christian marriage! We spend a lot of time teaching kids about sex, boundaries, and dating. But how often do we intentionally teach them how to build a healthy relationship? In this episode, Angela sits down with licensed therapist and relationship coach Ruby Falk to discuss the relationship skills every child should learn long before they enter a romantic relationship. Together they explore what it means to maintain your identity while caring for a partner, why you're not responsible for someone else's emotions, how healthy couples handle conflict, and why emotional safety matters more than perfection. They also discuss the importance of letting kids witness healthy conflict and repair, helping children learn to respond rather than react, and teaching them not only how to say "no," but how to recognize an authentic "yes." Whether you're raising young children, navigating the teen years, or simply reflecting on the relationship lessons you wish you'd learned sooner, this conversation offers practical wisdom for building healthier relationships across generations.
