Zaratul. A town in the fog that is a Magician's joke and a grave. Klein goes for the notebook anyway and plays games at Chanis Gate. The Secret Order stops being a Tingen rumor. Leonard is very close to saying the names out loud. Ince Zangwill is still out there with 0-08. The demigod ritual is starting to look like revenge with extra steps. We talk the first time Klein meets the other magician who wanted to be The Fool.
More from Lord of the Mysteries
The last of In Modern Day: Huang Tao as a boss, a group chat called Tarot Club, a movie about a crazy adventurer, headaches from a sea shanty, Mushu Hospital, and a city that is a trap the Celestial Worthy built around a sleeping man. Zhou Mingrui almost lives an ordinary life. Then a high-speed train opens, four or five people in the wrong clothes step onto a modern platform, and the first book ends by handing the dream to whoever is brave enough to walk into it.
Hornacis. Sequence 0. Amon inside Sefirah Castle. Klein lets the Celestial Worthy up for a gamble and wins ugly. Then he lies down to sleep for decades so the world can have a Fool that is still Klein. Melissa prays. An ordinary person's life under a new church. Then Zhou Mingrui clocks into the Intis Group, because the war for Lord of the Mysteries moved into a dream that looks like a commute. The main story ends. The fight doesn't.
Sealed Artifact 0-02 in Belltaine. The Fool's Card. Roselle sealed on an island that should have been a grave. Klein builds Utopia — a city of marionettes — to become Attendant of Mysteries, and Adam plus Zaratul crash the ritual. Mr. Door opens. Amon becomes Sequence 0 Error. Klein still finishes the drink, kills Zaratul, and stands as a King of Angels in a town that was never real. We talk a Sequence 1 ritual that is also a confession: he would rather be a fake city than a real monster.
Miracle Invoker. Klein becomes an angel who can resurrect as a magic trick. Derrick walks the City of Silver into sunlight. The Church of the Fool is a real church with real converts. Merlin Hermes, wandering magician, starts digesting by granting wishes that are actually miracles with receipts. The Seven Lights. The Hanged Man volume: someone is always on the tree. We talk the first time The Fool has a congregation that is not a bluff.
Nois. Moon City. Eternal dark, corruption, and the worst thing the book does to a human body. Kotar. A door in the Giant King's Court. Outside, gods go to war: Evernight versus the God of Combat, Earth Mother's betrayal, City of Silver still walking. Lightseeker as a title for people who have not seen the sun in two thousand years. We talk why this stretch is lore and nausea in equal measure.
