Jan Broberg was kidnapped twice — by the same man — while her parents stood by and did nothing. In this episode of Necronomipod, we cover the true crime case behind the Netflix documentary Abducted in Plain Sight: how Robert Berchtold groomed Jan Broberg over years, manipulated her entire family, and carried out not one but two abductions. We break down how Berchtold gained the family's trust, the psychological manipulation and control he built over Jan, how the first kidnapping unfolded, and how he managed to insert himself back into their lives for a second abduction. We also cover the FBI investigation, the eventual reckoning, and where Jan Broberg is today. https://www.necronomipod.com https://www.patreon.com/necronomipod Sponsored by BetterHelp https://www.betterhelp.com/necro Learn more about your ad choices. Grab a beer and join us tonight for another installment of Necro Overtime! First, we're going to take a victory lap. A new documentary called Capturing Bigfoot turned up 1966 footage of Roger Patterson filming a test run different guy in a different suit, a year before the famous Patterson-Gimlin film, and his son and widow are on camera saying the whole thing was a hoax. Then a dark one out of Licking County, Ohio, where deputies found nine kids living in a trailer and a shed, and two adults are charged with child endangerment. And finally, for the PP, Palantir’s CTO says some AI researchers have started smoking to show how sure they are that AI is going to cure cancer. Sounds really dumb, but its for real.
Grab a beer and join us tonight as we wrap up our series on the Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murders! In Part 2, we’ll pick it up in 1975, when the sheriff’s office went public with the idea that a witchcraft group might be behind the killings. Then the decades of suspects from the Zodiac to Ted Bundy. From there, we’ll get into the case getting reopened, and the DNA testing.

First, Ken Urker, Gypsy Rose Blanchard's ex-fiancé and the father of her daughter, was found dead in his Louisiana home on his 34th birthday. Then Tennessee tried to execute Christa Pike for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, and after two rounds of lethal injection she was still alive. It's the second execution the state has botched this year.
