Jackie White’s Story: Faith, Crèche Ministry, and Serving at Calvary Cork

Calvary Cork Podcast

Show Notes

In this episode of the Calvary Cork Podcast, Mike sits down with Jackie White for a conversation about God's grace, faithful service, and the often-unseen ways that the Lord works in our lives. Jackie shares her testimony of coming to faith in Christ and reflects on how God was at work long before she recognised it, using childhood experiences, travels, relationships, and life circumstances to draw her to Himself. She also talks about how she first became involved at Calvary Cork and the various volunteer roles she has served in since joining the church in 2017. Today, Jackie leads our Crèche Team and serves on the Abide Youth leadership team. In this conversation, she discusses the joys and challenges of serving in church life, the value of behind-the-scenes ministry, and why taking a simple step of obedience can often lead to opportunities we never expected. We hope this conversation helps you get to know Jackie a little better and encourages you to trust the Lord's leading and serve Him faithfully wherever He has placed you. The following Leader's Corner article by Jackie White was referenced during this conversation: You may have heard a call out for Creche volunteers over the past few weeks either in church or on the church podcast. If this has touched your heart and you are interested in serving, the doors are not closed - but I am happy to report that we have had a few people sign up. Thank you all who have been praying and of course our new volunteers.

With that, I wanted to share my first opinions on Creche many years ago starting in Children’s ministry.

I used to volunteer in the Children’s ministry and before I began that I had doubt in my heart that I wasn't knowledgeable enough. I know kids ask tough questions and I thought, “what if I can’t answer their deep theological questions?”. I’m just glad I made that first enquiry and brought forward my fears. I was gently reassured that teaching materials would be provided and that I would always have support. So, if you’re reading this and there’s a ministry you want to join, why not ask, maybe you’d be just who they’re looking for.

I loved Children’s ministry because although some deep topics may be simplified, the bible is never taken out of it and as an adult it felt exciting to see the bible through images, songs and live action stories. On the Calvary podcast Brian talks about going through the book of Revelations and certain pictures and symbolism which I know must be really exciting and I’m sure is bringing about rich conversations.

Onto Creche. While I was a Children’s ministry volunteer, one week Creche was short a volunteer and I was asked to step in. I was nervous, at this point I had barely ever been around a baby, but of course I wasn't alone and despite what some people may picture there’s no nappy changes, toileting and bottle feeds, and the kids themselves are more robust. They are past the small fragile baby stage and they are toddling around, singing and playing, but of course still needing support and watchful eyes. Having my own son in Creche now I am grateful for the volunteers, some of which have been going for 10 years as Creche volunteers, some of the longest standing members being Melissa (10 years), Andrea (7 years) and Laura (4 years). Hearing this made me feel so grateful for their hard work and dedication to the team.

We have some new team members this year and some others serving 2 - 3 years, all who are brilliant, kind and caring with a heart for Jesus no matter the length of service.

What does the Bible say about the end of the world? Revelation 20 describes Satan’s final defeat, the thousand-year reign of Christ, and the last judgement—and asks a deeply personal question: are you ready to meet Jesus? In this sermon, Mike Neglia explores four movements in Revelation 20: Satan is bound, the saints reign, the devil is defeated, and the dead are judged. We consider what the millennium means, what happens at the Great White Throne, and why the Lamb’s Book of Life offers hope in the face of judgement. Whether you’re exploring Christianity in Cork, Ireland, asking questions about Jesus, or studying what the Bible teaches about the end times, this message invites you to consider both the seriousness of God’s judgement and the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ. The One who will judge the world is the same One who gave His life to save sinners. Those who belong to Him can live faithfully and face the future with confidence. 📖 Bible passage: Revelation 20:1–15 🎙️ Preacher: Mike Neglia Questions explored: • What happens to Satan at the end of the world? • What is the thousand-year reign of Christ? • Will Christians face the final judgement? • What does the Bible teach about hell? • What is the Book of Life? • How can we be ready to meet Jesus? If you’re in Cork and exploring the Christian faith, you’re welcome to bring your questions and join the conversation. #Revelation20 #Christianity #Cork

Revelation 19 brings us to one of the great climactic moments in the Bible: the marriage supper of the Lamb and the return of Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords. Heaven rejoices because God saves, God judges rightly, and God reigns. But this chapter also presses a personal question on every one of us: how will we respond to the rule of Jesus? The invitation is still open. Come to the Lamb. Trust the King. Do not miss the feast.

In Revelation 18, Babylon the Great falls. The city that promised security, luxury, power, and pleasure is exposed as empty, corrupt, and unable to save. This sermon traces Babylon from Babel, to empire, to symbol, to the final anti-God world system judged in Revelation. Along the way, we consider what it means for Christians to hear the call: “Come out of her, my people.” How do we live faithfully in the world without being formed by the world? How do we recognise the pull of false comfort, consumerism, compromise, and worldly sorrow? Revelation 18 is a heavy chapter, but it leads us to the hope of the gospel: Babylon buys people to use them, but Jesus redeems people for God by His blood. Babylon consumes, but Jesus saves. Babylon enslaves, but Jesus sets free. Babylon falls, but Christ remains. Text: Revelation 18 Series: Revelation Speaker: Mike Neglia Church: Calvary Cork

Revelation 17 is one of the most symbol-filled chapters in the Bible: a woman, a beast, many waters, seven heads, ten horns, a golden cup, and the name Babylon. But this chapter is not given merely to satisfy our curiosity about the future. It opens our eyes to the Babylon around us, warns our hearts against Babylon’s seduction, and fixes our hope on the Lamb who conquers. In this sermon, we consider Babylon as the anti-God world-system in every age: seductive, spiritual but Christless, violent, and doomed. And at the centre of it all stands Revelation 17:14: “They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings.” Babylon seduces. The beast destroys. But the Lamb conquers.

Revelation 16 is one of the most sobering chapters in the Bible. The seven bowls of God’s wrath are poured out upon a world that has ignored His warnings, worshipped the beast, persecuted the saints, clung to Babylon, and stubbornly refused to repent. In this sermon, we see that God’s judgment is righteous, human rebellion is deeply hardened, and Christ’s warning is urgent. The bowls show what sin deserves, but the gospel shows where the believer’s judgment has already fallen: at the cross of Jesus Christ.Revelation 16 warns us that rebellion against God has consequences, repentance is urgent, and Christ is our only refuge.Text: Revelation 16Series: RevelationPreacher: Mike NegliaCalvary CorkSundays at 11am25 South Side Industrial Estate, Cork, Ireland (T12 R792)Website: https://calvarycork.orgInstagram: @CalvaryCorkFacebook: /CalvaryCorkSuggested Tags / KeywordsRevelation 16, seven bowls, wrath of God, Lamb of God, book of Revelation, Calvary Cork, Mike Neglia, Revelation sermon, end times, Armageddon, judgment of God, repentance, Jesus Christ, Bible teaching, Christian sermon
