Pod Stallions 130: 60 Years of Star Trek (Part 1) Download the Show here
Space, the final frontier. Is there a more iconic opening in TV history? (Debate amongst yourselves).
For millions of people, those words became comfort food on weekends, then led to a movie (!!) with the biggest budget since ‘Cleopatra’ (!!), five more with that cast, and damn near 10 more TV series and more big-screen adventures.
From a show that struggled and was too ambitious for the time, to decades of activity and revenue, Star Trek has been the gift that’s kept on giving for 60 years now.
It would be illogical for us to ignore that landmark, and any excuse to talk Trek is ok with us, so here’s our little tribute to the 5 Year Mission.
It’s tough to cover everything, but we do our best. Pour yourself a glass of tranya and colour some melon balls with food dye; it’s gonna be an important Trek.

Download the Show here It's October, and the witching weather is slowly upon us. Or it could be the wind whipping up from Outpost 31 in Antarctica as we're about to celebrate one of the seminal horror/sci-fi films of our lifetimes: John Carpenter's 'The Thing' (1982). There's not much more to say about the brilliance of Carpenter's masterpiece (to us, anyway), but in the spirit of creepy and spooky, we thought it was well past time to show it some love. It's also one of those movies that's synonymous with VHS rentals, and if you're like us, you rented it repeatedly to study all its nooks and crannies. We STILL do to this day: it has story, chills, great acting and characters, and the most extraordinary physical effects of its time, but there's still a little nugget or two to catch the first time. We even give some time to the ill-fated 2011 'prequel' Thing, and suggest a back-to-back viewing to enhance the original even more. It's never a bad time to throw on The Thing, but October belongs to fright, so no time like the present. Enjoy! And be sure to leave comments about who YOU think is The Thing in the closing credits!
