Welcome to the debut episode of Bloody Sam: A Peckinpah Fan Podcast! Over the course of the next 14 episodes I will be looking at all the feature films of the legendary director Sam Peckinpah. Each episode will also feature a special guest which will range from Peckinpah newbies right through to die hard fanatics.
On this episode we have Peckinpah fan Kyle Hintz (Bloodhound Pix) to talk about Peckinpah's debut "The Deadly Companions." Over the course of this episode we discuss how this was a gun-for-hire job for Peckinpah, how he butted heads with producer Charles B. Fitzsimons and how he ended up being locked out of the edit. Plus, we get into how this was created as a Maureen O'Hara vehicle, the movies alternative ending and how the film still retains some uniquely Peckinpah touches.
