Don't Do Nothing Podcast

Show Notes

In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, Gunnar Scharf shares how he became one of the most-watched voices talking openly about Scientology, seen more than 40 million times in under a year, all from Minnesota. Gunnar is a full-time staff member at the Church of Scientology of Twin Cities who funds his life as a construction consultant. He explains how a friendly competition with another staff member pushed him to start posting, why people all over the world now message him asking "where do I start," and how he answers them: start with a book, pick one thing you want to handle, and find out for yourself. He also tells his own story: how his parents found Scientology when he was a kid, how a wrist injury that surgeries couldn't fix got better after Dianetics counseling, and how he went from partying and drifting off his purpose to dedicating his life to helping people. Along the way he breaks down the ideas that changed how he sees everything, from "misunderstood words" and how to actually study, to why doing things you're not proud of quietly pulls you away from your own goals. In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, Aaron and Brad sit down with Ashly Guernaccini, founder of At Cause Law in Clearwater, Florida, and co-founder of Non Stuffy Marketing with her husband Joe. Ashly shares how a sheltered small-town honors student went from college parties to psychedelics, cocaine, and eventually heroin, all while finishing law school and practicing as a criminal defense attorney. She talks openly about her bad experience with psychiatric prescriptions while trying to quit heroin, the day she was tackled in a CVS parking lot buying heroin from her own client, and how close she came to losing her law license for good. Then comes the turnaround. Ashly explains how her mom found Narconon, what a drug-free detox and the Narconon sauna program were like for her, and the moment she knew she would never use again. She hasn't touched a drug since 2004. She also shares how the program led her to the Church of Scientology, why she stayed to work at Narconon for 10 years, how she met Joe, and how she bet her last $10,000 on starting her own law firm in the middle of COVID. Kyera Keenne's life looked great from the outside, a Hollywood writing career, big shows, big names. Inside, she says she was crippled, and searching for an answer she had been chasing since she was five. In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, writer and musician Kyera Keenne tells her story: how she walked onto the set of In Living Color not even knowing what a PA (Production Assistant) was, became Keenen Ivory Wayans' assistant for three and a half years, and got "fired" by him with a twist, he told her she was too talented to stay an assistant, then mentored her into becoming a writer. From there came a 12-year career writing for The Jamie Foxx Show, The PJs, Third Watch, Girlfriends, My Wife and Kids, and more, selling her own pilots, and the time she came within inches of a job writing for Friends. But the thread running through her whole life was a question. At five, she asked her mom what happens when you die, and the answer, "you're a wasn't," felt so wrong it made her physically sick. That started a lifetime of looking. She shares how she wandered into the Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles in 1999, skulked around the windows because of everything negative she'd heard, and says she was sold the moment she walked into the bookstore. She opens up about the PTS/SP course and how it let her finally fall in love with her difficult father before he passed, why she started two Scientology book clubs she still runs, and how Scientology shaped her as an artist. She also gets into her music: her album "The Wasn't,", a collaboration with Carlos Santana, and why she believes real creativity raises the emotion of everyone around it. He got kicked out of school after pulling the fire alarm to win back recess. A few years later, he had his high school diploma at 14. In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, Aaron and Brad sit down with Cary Green, a fourth-generation Scientologist and financial advisor who runs his own firm, Green Era Financial. Cary shares how an anxious, overweight, rebellious kid landed at a tiny boarding school in the New Mexico mountains with no TV, no video games, and no sugar, and how a program called Life Basics taught him everything from laundry to how to communicate. He explains how Educational Repair and Scientology's Study Technology found the skipped gradients in his math, and the two study tricks that got him through high school in under a year. From there, Cary takes us through culture shock as a 15-year-old in New York City, delivering 12-foot Christmas trees on his shoulder for tips, quitting a toxic job after five days, and taking an eight-day train to LA at 18. He talks about years as a fundraiser for the International Association of Scientologists, sitting at kitchen tables asking for anywhere from $1,000 to a couple million dollars, and how that work pulled him into the world of finance. Cary also breaks down Roth vs. traditional retirement accounts in plain language, what financial advisors actually do all day, and how salespeople should work with a client's advisor. Then Aaron and Brad turn the tables on his eight-year engagement with a heartfelt push to start a family. Let us know in the comments how did you like this episode and remember: Don't do nothing. Claude Valinsky danced and choreographed for some of the biggest names in music. Then when she fell for her husband Noah, and a jealousy she calls "psychotic" hit her out of nowhere. In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, professional dancer and choreographer Claude Racine-Valinsky tells her story: a Montreal kid who moved to Arizona at nine to learn English through dance, fell in love with it, and talked her way from an Arkansas dance studio into a Los Angeles scholarship program and a 23-year career dancing for Chris Brown, J-Lo, the Pussycat Dolls, the Jonas Brothers, Avril Lavigne, and more. She shares what it's really like to be a backup dancer, why she spent 18 years in the industry and says she never once touched drugs, and the years she dated actor Val Kilmer while somehow missing the whole party scene. The turning point came when she met her husband Noah. Claude describes being blindsided by intense jealousy, how Noah introduced her to Scientology principles, and how reading about the reactive mind in Dianetics and using Dianetics is what she credits for ending that jealousy. She talks about doing the Purification Rundown and going Clear, why she believes your thoughts shape the reality and the partners you attract, and how she became a Church of Scientology staff in Las Vegas making videos that reach millions. She also opens up about a hard chapter: postpartum anxiety and depression after her son Nova was born, a home birth, an autoimmune diagnosis, and the changes she says helped her get better. From there she and the hosts make their case against psychiatry and psychiatric medication. Let us know in the comments how did you like this episode and remember: Don't do nothing. Noah Valinsky has worked with some of the biggest stars in the world. In this episode of the Don't Do Nothing Podcast, professional choreographer Noah Valinsky tells his story: a self-taught kid from the Chicago club scene who talked his way into the industry and ended up choreographing and dancing for Taylor Swift, Usher, Pink, Gwen Stefani, Meghan Trainor, and shows like Will & Grace and Fuller House. But underneath the career was a wild, self-destructive life of clubs, drugs, and chasing the wrong things, which finally caught up with him in a drunk-driving crash that cost him his car, his job, his home, and nearly his life. That was the turning point. Noah walked into the Scientology Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles, did Dianetics and the Purification Rundown, and rebuilt everything. Today he's a Church of Scientology staff member in Las Vegas, a devoted husband and father, and, with his wife, the voice behind a 700,000-follower channel built on one message: be a good man. He gets real about why he believes the flashy party life leaves people miserable, why artists are so important, and how learning to actually confront and handle problems changed his whole life.
