In this episode: • 1% of Firms Drive Spending: Ramp's October AI Index finds that 1% of firms in its data drive 80% of spending on OpenAI and Anthropic. Those heavy users' September spending per employee fell 3.1% below July's peak even as token volumes rose. Ramp attributes the drop mainly to falling model prices. • Gemini 4 Argon Often Overkill: A featured guide argues that Google's Gemini 4 Argon, built for long, multi-step work, is overkill for most daily tasks. It lays out a decision process for when to use Argon and when Flash or Flash-Lite is the smarter call. It also offers a method to test the difference directly. • Cammarata: Networks Easier to Interpret: Goodfire interpretability researcher Nick Cammarata argues neural networks are easier to interpret than the field assumed. A 65-minute essay contends that polysemanticity in early model organisms came mostly from recursive generalization, which it distinguishes from arbitrary superposition. If so, networks can be studied directly without first being untangled.
