Warren Buffett is now in a fascinating late chapter: no longer Berkshire Hathaway chief executive, no longer chairman, but still a director and chairman emeritus at age 96. Yahoo Finance reports that Buffett says he has never felt better about Berkshire’s future, while his son Howard now guards the boardroom and Greg Abel runs the business. That transition is proving less dramatic for investors than it once seemed.
Berkshire shares recently reached a record high, with Bloomberg reporting that Class B stock moved above its previous peak as investors grew more comfortable with life after Buffett. Yahoo Finance says the rally coincided with a sharp rotation away from semiconductor and artificial intelligence stocks and toward Berkshire. That may be market timing rather than a permanent verdict on succession, but the symbolism is powerful: Buffett’s company has reclaimed a record after his operational exit.
The business itself is hardly standing still. Regulatory filings show Berkshire spent roughly 595 million dollars building its position in homebuilder Lennar, taking the holding to about 12 percent. The purchase is a significant bet on American housing at a moment when high borrowing costs and weaker demand are pressuring builders. Buffett remains listed as a reporting person, although the filings do not prove he personally selected the investment. Responsibility now rests principally with Abel and Berkshire’s investment team.
Berkshire also ended fourteen consecutive quarters of net stock selling, putting approximately 23.5 billion dollars into equities during the second quarter, including about 10 billion dollars in Alphabet, according to 247 Wall Street. The company bought back roughly 4.5 billion dollars of its own shares, while cash remained enormous.
Buffett’s older warnings are enjoying a fresh media revival. CNBC comments cited by Yahoo Finance describe markets as having an unusually strong gambling mood, with artificial intelligence enthusiasm drawing comparisons to the dot com era. Those are not new remarks from the past few days, but they are being repackaged as current cautionary headlines. No verified new Buffett public appearance or social media post emerged in the available recent reporting. Claims about additional personal statements should be treated as unconfirmed.
