Season 2 Teaser

This week, I talk about the pink triangle and how it went from being a symbol of hate and violence to one of strenght and activism in the US and globally!

This week, I got the chance to interview Representative Kameron Nelson. Kameron made history by being the first openly gay man elected to the South Dakota state legislature. In this interview we talked about what it was like growing up gay in a rural setting, what people can do to get involved politically to make their communities more inclusive, and why it is important for millennials and younger to be involved in politics.

After a bit of a hiatus, we are back with regular posting of episodes! This week we are focusing on American lyricist and playwright, Howard Ashman.

This episode I dive into the astonishing life of Bayard Rustin, the openly gay black man that was the mastermind behind most of the civil rights movement. He is also known as Dr Martin Luther King Jr.'s right hand man. But I give focus to not just his triumphs with the civil rights movement, but his continuous activism from the time he started college to the day he died.

This episode I talk about the 3 major events that set the stage for the Stonewall Riots. The Cooper Do-Nut Riot, the Compton Cafeteria Riot, and the Black Cat Tavern Protest. I also get into important context around the outcomes of each event.
