Nostalgia! Why does it make us sad? Is nostalgia dangerous?
Julie takes the girls through the history of the actual word nostalgia and how drastically it's meaning has changed since 1688. Ashley and Amber weigh in on what nostalgia means to them. They all share a time for which they are nostalgic. They discuss how nostalgia is used against us plebs by brands and politicians. Nostalgia can be dangerous! But what IS the brighter side of nostalgia... tune in to find out. Eddie and Amber interview old buddy, Joel Walkowski, about his new book "Honolulu Blues".
More from The Brighter Side
This week on The Brighter Side, Amber and Ashley are talking red flags, green flags, and taking an honest look at their own. What makes us run for the hills, and what makes us want to stick around? Sometimes finding the brighter side means knowing when to get the hell out.
The Brighter Side gang did the unthinkable: listened to younger versions of themselves wax poetic about everything from eating puke to the possibility of getting married. To celebrate officially passing the 600-episode mark, Ed, Amber, Julie, and Ashley dug into the archives for a Best Of, revisiting bear cunnilingus, the early days of the pandemic, and a few gems that made them think, “Wow, we really did drink heavily at every recording.” A lot has changed, but we’re still here, making each other laugh and finding the brighter side. Enjoy!
It's officially spooky season, so pull out your scaredy pants and let's rock. A car drives by with no headlights on, Bloody Mary pops up in the mirror, KILLER CLOWNS, and the scariest one of all: spontaneous human combustion. Julie and Amber go toe for toe sharing the things they were most scared of as children. Do these things still scare you? No? Prove it! Try to summon Bloody Mary without getting chills. Double Dog Dare Ya!
The Brighter Side has officially hit 600 episodes. Have we made you a more positive person? Is the world a better place? Who cares, we just wanna make people happy. Here's to 600 more!!!
The undeniably lovely Joyelle Johnson joins Amber and Ed to reminisce about the old days in NYC Comedy scene and share love for their friend Bird Luger AKA Kevin Barnett.
