Ocala Experience, Broken Backs, And Voluntary Horse Show Attire

I won my first Congress championship in a riding class, and yes… there were LOTS of happy tears! 🏆🐴 I’m sitting down at the All American Quarter Horse Congress to catch y’all up on an unforgettable horse show. From my Level 1 Amateur Western Riding win to Denver’s accomplishments in the show pen, I have so much to celebrate, and a 2 a.m. practice ride still ahead! Winning means so much to me, but knowing I gave that ride my very best made it even sweeter. I’m sharing the emotions behind that moment, a few horse show scoring details, and some very embarrassing evidence that Congress exhaustion has officially caught up with me. Apparently, I can post TikToks in my sleep! 😂 Of course, I couldn’t get through a catch-up without a few tangents, including my first time running a Dungeons & Dragons adventure. Even my imaginary adventures involve horses and unicorns! What would y’all like me to talk about in my next Congress debrief? My first KVS Podcast guests are here, and they’ve got me dreaming BIG for Kennedy and Weezy! 🐴 I’m sitting down with Lainie DeBoer and Sarah Elder Chabot to talk about the English Versatility Challenge, what makes American Quarter Horses so versatile, and how they’re helping bring new excitement to the AQHA hunter world. From trot poles and lead changes to opportunities for horses and riders at different levels, we’re breaking down what makes this class so special! After some saddle fitting and lessons here on the farm, I’m excited to share what we’re working toward with Kennedy, including helping my Western pleasure girl find her English stride! We also chat about the VS Code Red-sponsored series, the English Versatility Challenge at the AQHA World Show, and my upcoming adventure behind the commentary microphone. 🎙️ I loved hearing how much heart these ladies have put into creating more opportunities for horses and the people who love them. Of course, we squeeze in old horse show memories, buckle talk, and a little convincing that I should try jumping! 💕 Would you try English Versatility with your horse? My best friend, a stack of Post-it notes, and a game I severely underestimated… what could go wrong? 😂 On this episode of Katching Up With Katie, my best friend Rebecca joins me, Nate, and Matt for a Post-it note number game that gets confusing REAL quick. From chicken nuggets to how many horses I own, I thought we had some pretty good clues, but guessing our numbers was harder than we expected! Then I catch up with Rebecca about the return of her snapping turtle, Snappy, her new animal-inspired merch, and easy recipes for busy nights. Of course, we couldn’t leave without a few tangents about school bus stories and embarrassing phone calls! 💕 Should we try this game again with my animals’ names instead of numbers? Let me know in the comments how you think you would do at this game! 🐴 Check out Rebecca’s merch, recipes, and more: https://beccamillerco.com #HorseVlog #FarmLife #Equestrian #KatchingUpWithKatie #KatieVanSlyke #GuessingGame 0:00 Welcome Back to Katching Up With Katie 0:49 How to Play the Post-it Note Game 10:41 Round 2 Guess the Number: Matt and Nate 23:20 Katie Vs. Bella’s babies have names, my horse show plans might shuffle, and apparently we’re planning a black-tie gala now?! 🐐😂 Welcome back to Katching Up With Katie! Rachel joins me, Nate, and Matt to catch up on a busy week of farm life, starting with Bella’s baby goats: Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach! I’m sharing why I was so nervous leading up to her delivery, Rachel’s experience helping with goat watch, and a few stories from my childhood goats. Then, I’m catching up with Matt on his Western pleasure lesson and talking through some possible horse swaps for our upcoming horse show. I want to make sure everyone has a horse they feel comfortable riding so we can keep this experience safe and fun. 🐴 Of course, I couldn’t get through an episode with this crew without a few detours! From funny misunderstandings and Rachel's first day at the farm to letting a dice roll decide future plans, I loved getting to sit down, laugh, and catch y’all up. What do you think of Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach and which horse-and-rider pairing are you most excited to see? A new mare, baby goats, and a foaling season that’s already looking a little wild… and somehow we still found time to plan Christmas. 🐴🎄 Welcome back to Katching Up With Katie! I’m sharing the story behind Pinky, the new mare coming to the farm, and why I couldn’t pass her up. We’re also catching up on Kennedy, our young horses’ first rides, and what it takes to keep everything moving around the barn. With 12 mares due during foaling season, plus mini horses, mini donkeys, and calves on the calendar, we may be spending a lot of nights on baby watch. Naturally, that leads us to planning D&D games, a possible Christmas special, and even a foal watch bluegrass band. Which are you most excited to follow next year: the foals, the mini cows, or the mini donkeys?
