'Hal Is Not Insane' Confirms Malcolm in the Middle Writer Eric Kaplan
Yes No Maybe: A Malcolm in the Middle PodcastShow Notes
We bagged another writer on this week's episode of Yes, No, Maybe!
Eric Kaplan is the writer of Dirty Magazine, Victor's Other Family, Dewey's Opera, Ida's Dance, Blackout, and Hal Grieves.
He has written for many other beloved and hilarious TV shows over the course of his incredible career AND he managed to get PhD in philosophy from UC Berkeley... kinda insane.
We were thrilled to get into Eric's take on the Malcolm writer's room, a bit of Linwood lore, philosophical musings on these characters, and more during this episode.
HUGE shoutout to his NEW ANIMATION STUDIO Kap Knap, found here: https://www.youtube.com/@Kapknap
They just launched their first show "My Friend Coffee", which we talk about in the interview!
As always, this episode is a part of the Gotham Podcast Network and was recorded at their production studio in Manhattan. Book a studio here: https://www.gothamproductionstudios.com

Malcolm has entered High School. And made an absolute fool of himself. Sound familiar, Willa?
What’s that you hear? That’s right, it’s another KRELBOYNE INTERVIEW! This week we’re talking to the legendary Will Jatho, also known as ERASERHEAD, everybody’s favorite spiky-haired little nerd with a large scary brother. We talk about being BFFs with Frankie Muniz, coworkers finding out about Will’s time on Malcolm, and Will’s incredibly fascinating job working on submarines. If you’ve ever listened to this show and wished it had more discussion about nuclear energy, this episode is for you! We loved our time chatting with Will and we hope you will too.
Malcolm and Dewey have fallen into the tiger cage at the zoo.
This is THE most informed review of Season 3 of Malcolm in the Middle you are likely to find. As we realize in this episode, we've been watching this season over the course of 9 months. Insanity.
The core family unit has been revealed. Our father, Ted Barnett, completes the Pentafecta as foretold. Basically: our dad is on this episode YAY!
