MEDIA MATTERS WITH DAVE DAVIS & DAVID LYNCH | PART 1

Dave Davis is joined by Liverpool journalist David Lynch for another edition of Media Matters on Anfield Index, reacting to Liverpool's dramatic 4-3 Champions League victory over Villarreal, with particular focus on two outstanding attacking talents: Florian Wirtz and Rio Ngumoha.

Ngumoha delivered a sensational performance at Anfield, registering two assists, completing seven of his eight attempted dribbles and repeatedly tormenting Villarreal's defence.

David Lynch describes the youngster's display as “world class”, insisting he was Liverpool's clear man of the match despite Alexis Mac Allister scoring twice.

The pair discuss Ngumoha's remarkable development, his growing effectiveness on the right wing and why working under Andoni Iraola could help him reach even greater heights.

Meanwhile, Florian Wirtz is beginning to rediscover his confidence and attacking quality after a challenging start to his Liverpool career.

Coming off the bench against Villarreal, Wirtz transformed Liverpool's attacking play and scored what proved to be the winning goal, extending his run to three consecutive appearances with a goal contribution.

Lynch praises the German international's quicker decision-making, willingness to take risks and renewed swagger, describing his second-half performance as “magnificent”.

Could Iraola finally be unlocking the player Liverpool expected when Wirtz arrived at Anfield?

Dave and David also examine Liverpool's disastrous opening 25 minutes, Villarreal's tactical approach and how Iraola's side recovered from 2-0 down to secure another important Champions League victory.

There's further praise for Alexis Mac Allister, whose two goals and return to top form have provided Liverpool with another major boost.

Are Florian Wirtz and Rio Ngumoha becoming Liverpool's biggest game-changers, and is Iraola beginning to unlock the full potential of his attacking players?
