What are the muppets? But wait. It’s also a style of puppetry created by Jim and Jane Henson in the mid-1950s that applies not only to THE Muppets, capital M, but also other Jim Henson Company-created characters and properties like Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Dark Crystal, and Yoda. So what exactly IS a muppet? Well, thanks to a Supreme Court case in the 1990s, we actually have a legal definition.
