Show Notes
In 1612, a chance encounter on a road in rural Lancashire sparked an accusation of witchcraft that would grow into one of the most notorious witch trials in English history. As one accusation led to another, old rivalries resurfaced, family members turned against one another, and stories of curses, familiars and secret gatherings drew more and more people into the investigation. What began with one young woman would soon engulf an entire community, leaving families destroyed and multiple people condemned to the gallows.

In 1996, a troubled 16-year-old boy named Rod Ferrell believed he was a 500-year old-vampire. He formed a small group of local teens in Murray, Kentucky obsessed with vampire roleplaying, blood drinking, and occult beliefs. The roleplaying took a serious turn when Rod broke into the home of Richard Wendorf and Naomi Ruth Queen - the parents of clan member Heather Wendorf - and beat them to death. What followed became a media sensation, and has been remembered as the Vampire Clan Murders.
In October 1985, 17-year-old Missy Avila left her home in California's San Fernando Valley to spend the afternoon with friends and never came home. Three days later, two hikers made a horrifying discovery in Angeles National Forest. As Missy's family desperately searched for answers, the people closest to them offered comfort and promised to help find her killer. Before America had witch trials, Europe had werewolf trials - and they were as dark as they sound. One of the most infamous cases of time was that of Peter Stumpp, a man who was convicted and executed for serial murder, cannibalism, incest, and practicing black magic to transform into a werewolf. The Werewolf of Bedbug has cemented its place in German history not only for its gruesome nature, but as an example of a case in which people focused on villainizing wolves. Looking back on the case in present day, it ultimately revealed that the depths of human depravity seem to know no bounds.
