Show Notes
It's one of our favorite days during awards season: when our great friend Glenn Whipp of the Los Angeles Times joins us to help out with Oscar picks. Glenn covers awards races year-round, and always has lots of insider insight. The three of us don't agree on everything -- we're split on best picture, for example -- but other categories like best actress seem pretty clear at this point. What do you hope to see win? What do you think will win? And are those the same thing? Here's a link to a downloadable, printable ballot. Bring it with you on Sunday night, when we'll be doing out annual Oscar livestream. We'll be at our Breakfast All Day YouTube channel starting at 330pm Pacific time on Sunday, March 15, and the ceremony begins at 4. Link to that coming soon. And whether or not you can make it on Sunday night, we're also doing a reaction livestream at 9am Pacific time on Monday. We look forward to seeing you and hearing your thoughts!
More from Breakfast All Day movie reviews
It's Arthouse Tuesday on a Friday here at Breakfast All Day. We've already reviewed the big movie everyone's talking about this week, the Elizabeth Holmes documentary "You Can See Everything." And as for "Street Fighter," Alonso did a quick out-of-the-theater reaction. But there are always plenty of new movies to discuss. Here's what we reviewed on our latest episode: LA BOLA NEGRA. It's a sweeping historical drama and a queer Spanish romance. And it was a very big deal at this year's Cannes Film Festival, where the directors, known collectively as Los Javis, won the top prize. Playing in theaters now before streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 2.
October means all the movies are very long and important. Well, most of them are. Here's what we reviewed on the latest episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING. This is a very early look at the Elizabeth Holmes documentary, so it's a non-spoiler review, because there's a lot you're going to want to discover and discuss on your own. Directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim spent a month with the disgraced Theranos founder in her home before she had to report to prison for defrauding investors. The results are mesmerizing. In theaters Oct. 16, then come to our LIVE spoiler chat on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Noon Pacific and we'll really get into it.
It's a big midweek episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. Here's what we've got for you this time: THE SOCIAL RECKONING. Aaron Sorkin's follow-up to David Fincher's searing 2010 drama "The Social Network" focuses on Facebook -- and its founder -- from a different angle. This one's more of a journalistic procedural, and we don't agree on it. Starring Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madson, Betty Gilpin, Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg. In theaters this weekend.
A ridiculously huge episode of Breakfast All Day to kick off October. Here's what we reviewed this week: DIGGER. Tom Cruise teams up with Alejandro G. Iñárritu for a massive, cacophonous climate change parable. We couldn't stand it, but we were also in awe of its cinematography and production design. Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller and Jesse Plemons co-star. In theaters. And once you've seen the movie, come to our LIVE spoiler chat at our YouTube channel on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Noon Pacific.
We are in the thick of fall movie season now, and you're here with us. Here's what we reviewed on this week's episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. PRIMETIME. Robert Pattinson IS Chris Hansen, host of the NBC series "To Catch a Predator" in the early aughts. The film is lurid and Pattinson gives an enjoyably garish performance. In theaters.
