Today we continue our mini series with Edi Bilimoria, author of the stunning 4 volume work Unfolding Consciousness. As book four is the reference book for the series, this is the penultimate dialogue with Edi. Book three entitled - Gazing through the Telescope – Man is the Measure of All Things – has a lot of ideas so we felt it was best to split the conversation into two. In this part we look at the first half of book three. We have done our best to make this audio friendly. However, I encourage you to watch this on Youtube if you can or at least check out the diagrams in the video when you have listened. They made a massive difference to my understanding and our feedback suggests they could help you too. We jump straight into this conversation with Edi explaining what is consciousness and why we need to focus more on relationships than on things so let’s get into the interview. In this episode, Jonathan Brown welcomes back Henry Mintzberg to unpack the biggest myths in management and leadership. Drawing on decades of observation and the ideas behind "Bust Those Management Myths", he challenges popular assumptions about what managers do, why leadership gets over-glorified, and how business schools, buzzwords and management fashions can distort the real work of organising people. The discussion also explores why serendipity matters, what remote work can’t fully replace, why AI should be approached with caution rather than hype and how "people disconnect" sits at the centre of so many management failures.
In this special episode, Jonathan Brown sits down with Phil Anderson to revisit the ideas behind The Secret Life of Real Estate and Banking and discuss why 2026 has long been a key date in his forecasting. Phil explains how long-term real estate cycles, commodity cycles, interest rates, and geopolitical conflict can line up to create major turning points in the global economy. Phil also promotes the idea of a Citizen’s Dividend. A system in which the value society creates ultimately flows into land, and if those land earnings were shared more fairly, communities could reduce inequality, stabilise the economy, and even replace many existing taxes.
