The Edmonton Oilers Lose In Shootout + More Injuries For Oilers

Welcome back to The Sauce with Ryder & Lisa, Edmonton’s weekday morning show bringing you the latest Oilers news, hockey debates, trending stories and plenty of morning chaos! The Edmonton Oilers are back at Rogers Place, but there’s a bigger conversation happening around the fan experience. With ticket prices, resale values and attendance becoming major talking points, are the Oilers and Oilers Entertainment Group learning an expensive lesson about pricing?

Bob Summers joins the show to break down the economics behind the ticket market and why fans could ultimately benefit from the changing landscape. Plus, Tyler Yaremchuk joins Ryder and Lisa for more Oilers talk, and we’re opening up a debate that hockey fans have been having for years: shootouts suck, and it’s time to rethink them! After more than two decades, is the shootout experiment officially over? Why not keep playing 3-on-3 overtime until somebody scores? We’re comparing the drama of Evan Bouchard’s birthday bomb to a shootout winner and asking why the NHL settles games this way. We’re also talking about the Oilers’ new concession deals at Rogers Place, the Daily Faceoff Team Collection, Ryder’s Sportsnet+ frustrations, Gen Z’s changing relationship with alcohol, the latest election news and some of the wildest stories making the rounds online. And, of course, we’ve got our DoorDash Saucy Delivery of the Day!

We’re live from the Sports Interaction studio on The Sauce with Ryder & Lisa’s YouTube channel and at Oilersnation.com/live, where you can watch the show or listen to the audio-only stream while you’re on the go.
