It’s Type 1 Diabetes - Real Life - but with Real Laughs too. Today on Type 1 John: 70% of people with Type 1 go it alone. You might have people around you, but most of the time, it’s just you and your Type 1 inside your head. I know that feeling. I spent years avoiding other people with Type 1 because, honestly, I thought I’d rather not know. If that’s you, I’m here. I’ve got your back. I’m here Tuesdays and Thursdays, learning from other people’s experiences and trying to figure out this Type 1 thing myself. Today, I’m talking to Lee, who’s lived with Type 1 for 30 years. He’s got three times my experience - and some stories to tell. Including the scare tactics they used on him when he was a kid!
And if you’re new around here... This podcast is me figuring out type 1 diabetes - I’ve been it for 10 years and now I’m trying to get a grip on it before it gets a grip on me. Honest conversations about Type 1, the good days, the disasters, the things I’m still figuring out and the stuff nobody really prepares you for. It’s not perfect diabetes. It’s honest diabetes. And If you sometimes think you are winging it too, come and wing it with me! Because the more we talk about this stuff, the more we realise we’re probably not as alone as we thought.
