Timeline - World History Documentaries

Summary

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas, Texas, while riding in an open-top motorcade. The event unfolds as Kennedy and Texas Governor John Connally wave to a crowd of supporters when gunshots ring out. The first bullet strikes Connally, while the second and fatal shot hits Kennedy in the head, resulting in his immediate death. The nation is thrown into mourning as CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite announces the tragedy shortly after it occurs.

The investigation quickly leads to the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald, who is identified as the shooter. Oswald, a former Marine with a history of pro-communist sentiments, had purchased a rifle used in the assassination. His background reveals a troubled life marked by a fascination with Marxism and a failed attempt to defect to the Soviet Union. Despite his denials of involvement, Oswald is charged with the murders of both Kennedy and a Dallas police officer, J.D. Tippett, whom he kills shortly after the assassination.

Oswald's life ends abruptly when he is shot and killed by nightclub owner Jack Ruby while being transferred to a jail, leaving many questions about the assassination unanswered. The Warren Commission later concludes that Oswald acted alone in the assassination, marking a pivotal moment in American history that continues to evoke debate and speculation.

After five months planning, in December 1941, secret assassins staged a daring roadside ambush, in the heart of Prague in broad daylight. Heydrich died of his wounds eight days later. The mass-murderer was gone, but the revenge was swift as hundreds died at the hands of German soldiers. Was this Nazi hunt worth it?You can now become a History Hit member right here on YouTube!
