Peace isn’t something you have to create; it’s a promise you can receive when you fix your thoughts on the Father instead of the pressure.

Parenting Beyond Meltdowns is Ranked in the Top 2.5% of Podcasts Worldwide! Do you find yourself second-guessing your parenting decisions when a family member has an opinion about your child? Does your child's meltdown at a family gathering leave you feeling embarrassed, defensive, or judged? Ever wonder why one comment from a relative can leave you feeling so dysregulated, even when you were confident in your decision just moments before? In This Episode In this episode of Parenting Beyond Meltdowns, we're exploring why family opinions can trigger emotional dysregulation and make parenting your strong-willed or neurodivergent child feel even harder. I'm sharing a personal Thanksgiving story about my son, a crowded family gathering, and a parenting decision I knew was right for him but struggled to stand by when someone questioned it. Whether your child has ADHD, ASD, ODD, or PDA, navigating meltdowns, sensory overwhelm, difficult transitions, or behavior others see as defiant can become especially challenging when relatives have expectations. We'll look at how old beliefs about keeping people happy can influence our emotional regulation and leave us feeling dysregulated when someone disapproves. You'll begin to recognize why building connection with your child sometimes means trusting what you know, even when others don't understand. And how greater awareness can help you respond with compassion instead of allowing fear of judgment to determine your choices. Mama, your peace doesn't have to depend on everyone agreeing with your parenting. You can remain anchored in the Father's truth. Faith Anchor Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Father is safe.” When we look to other people's approval to feel secure in our parenting, our peace can become dependent on something we cannot control. The Father invites us to return to Him, trusting His truth rather than allowing someone else's opinion to define us. Micro Shift of the Week The next time someone's comment or reaction leaves you feeling defensive, embarrassed, or frustrated, gently ask yourself... “What am I making this mean right now?” You don't need to immediately change your thoughts or convince yourself not to care. Simply notice what you're believing about yourself, your child, or your parenting in that moment. Awareness is where change can begin. Parenting Beyond Meltdowns is Ranked in the Top 2.5% of Podcasts Worldwide! Does your child's meltdown ever leave you wondering what everyone else thinks about your parenting? When your strong-willed child refuses to cooperate, do you find yourself feeling disrespected or questioning what you're doing wrong? Have you ever felt like your child's behavior is a reflection of whether you're a good mama? Wish you could respond with more peace and confidence, even when your child is struggling? In This Episode In this episode, we're talking about how easily our child's behavior can become a reflection of what we believe about ourselves as parents. When you're raising a strong-willed or neurodivergent child, whether they're navigating ADHD, ASD, ODD, or PDA, everyday parenting moments can bring up some pretty big emotions. A meltdown in public, defiant behavior, or a difficult transition can leave you feeling embarrassed, frustrated, or questioning yourself. We'll explore how the meaning we attach to our child's behavior can influence our own emotional regulation, especially when we're already dysregulated. You'll begin to recognize the difference between responding to what your child needs and reacting to what you believe their behavior says about you. And as we head into the holidays, we'll look at how shifting this perspective can create more room for building connection, compassion, and peace. Mama, your child's struggles don't have to determine how you see yourself. Your identity is anchored in who the Father says you are. Faith Anchor Romans 8:1 (ESV) “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” How often do we take a difficult parenting moment and turn it into evidence that we're doing something wrong? The Father invites us to return to His truth rather than allowing our child's behavior to determine our worth. Micro Shift of the Week The next time your child's behavior brings up a strong emotional reaction, pause and ask yourself: “What am I making this mean right now?” Notice the thoughts that come up without immediately trying to change them. Are you interpreting your child's refusal as disrespect? Does a public meltdown leave you questioning your parenting? Simply becoming aware of the meaning you're attaching to the moment can help you begin responding with greater curiosity and compassion. Join Me for the Free Holiday Workshop! Parenting Beyond Meltdowns is Ranked in the Top 2.5% of Podcasts Worldwide! Have you ever felt like if you could just find the right answer, everything with your child might finally be okay? Do you find yourself researching late at night, wondering if there’s something you haven’t tried yet? Are you afraid of making the wrong decision for your strong-willed or neurodivergent child? What if peace doesn’t come from knowing what happens next, but from trusting the Father when you can’t see the whole road? Episode Overview In this episode, we’re talking about what surrender can look like when parenting a strong-willed or neurodivergent child leaves you desperately searching for answers. I’m sharing about the season when our family hit rock bottom and I finally reached a place where I couldn’t fix, change, or control what was happening, and how that exposed just how much pressure I had been carrying to figure everything out myself. Whether you’re navigating meltdowns, dysregulation, defiant behavior, ADHD, ASD, ODD, PDA, school decisions, or simply wondering what your child needs next, seeking help and advocating for your child isn’t the problem. Surrender doesn’t mean becoming passive or giving up. It means continuing to take the next step without believing you have to carry your child’s entire future on your shoulders. As we grow in emotional regulation and building connection with our child, we can learn to ask, “Father, what is mine to do today?” and trust Him with what isn’t. Faith Anchor “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6 ESV Understanding can feel especially important when you’re desperate to know what to do for your child. But the invitation isn’t to have the whole road figured out. It’s to trust the One who can see what you cannot. Micro Shift of the Week When you notice your mind racing ahead into What if? How will I fix this? What if I get this wrong?, pause and ask... “Father, what is mine to do today?” If there’s a next step, take it. If there isn’t, practice trusting Him with what you cannot carry. You don’t need the whole roadmap, mama. You just need to trust the One walking the road with you.
