Nicky Campbell: Speaking Out, Finding Family, and Saying Goodbye
Life At The Midpoint with Gabby LoganShow Notes
How do we find the courage to speak the truth about our past, and what happens when we finally do? Gabby is rejoined by broadcaster and Long Lost Family presenter Nicky Campbell. Nicky has been a fixture of British broadcasting for decades, hosting on BBC Radio 5 Live and fronting ITV's Long Lost Family, now in its 16th series. Nicky spoke to Gabby about going public with his story of childhood abuse at school, and the overwhelming response from people who had never told anyone. He revealed how his ADHD and bipolar diagnosis helped him understand why broadcasting suits him, and shared emotional stories from the new series of Long Lost Family.
Nicky also opened up about his adoption journey, including the extraordinary coincidence of discovering his half-sister had been in the same house decades earlier. He reflected on his four daughters' bond, the shifting lines of free speech in comedy, and the loss of his beloved dogs.
Long Lost Families is available to watch on ITVX.
