The Nielson Show

Show Notes

We are back for a brand new week on a Tuesday edition of The Nielson Show live on Edmonton Sports Talk!

Dustin Nielson is away handling national NHL play-by-play duties, so stepping into the driver's seat is the one and only Dave Jamieson! We'll be seeing plenty of Jamo anchoring the show while Dusty is on the call. The fellas catch up with Jamo—because it's been a minute—before diving headfirst into a massive slate of sports talk.

The first segment we hit was Morning Announcements for Haddies Golf Shop to recap everything that transpired yesterday in the world of sports.

After the break, we got into The Fan Zone for Northern Gauge to discuss who should start in net for the Oilers for the next couple of games. We also played five minutes of Mike Babcock in this segment as well.

We capped off hour one by getting Fired Up for Gemco Fireplaces to discuss a potential trade that involves Kirby Dach coming to Edmonton… Could this actually happen? And who's going the other way if this trade is made.

We then looked elsewhere and got his thoughts on Brady Tkachuk's return last night in Ottawa and as well touched his biggest surprise so far this season.

Jamie McLennan kicked off today's guest lineup, jumping straight into a breakdown of last night's thrilling overtime win and what makes this Oilers squad so fun to watch right now. The conversation quickly shifted to the crease, with Noodles evaluating Devon Levi—what sets him apart from previous Edmonton netminders of the McDavid era, and whether it's fair to label him the goalie of the future. The guys also looked down the ice at Minnesota's Jesper Wallstedt, discussing his potential to evolve into one of the league's elite goaltenders. To wrap things up, Noodles previewed tonight's marquee matchup in Ottawa as Brady Tkachuk makes his first emotional return to the nation's capital since being traded.
