It was a simple premise… What if WE wrote our own stories? I mean, we talk so much shit all the time. What if we put our collective money where our proverbial mouthes are? So…We did that - and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
I want to thank all the guests on today’s episodes for being a bunch of real gents. Ramses, first off, for sharing his wonderful fucking story with me and for being so fucking humble about how amazing it is. And then Mark and Royale for just sitting with me and letting me read to them and for being willing to talk to me about it with them afterwards. I am so utterly grateful for your involvement in my life and appreciate the crap out of y’all for joining me on this. I love you guys. Thank you for being a part of this with me. This is PART FIVE of SIX, y’all. I’M GONNA CLIMAX.

What happens when you take a beloved cult classic series of books, do none of the research work involved, and ape the shit out of the fanbase? I kid, but not really. Tribute to Terror is born out of a love and deep respect mixed admiration for Alvin Schwartz and Stephen Gammell’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series from the late 90’s. Tribute is just as it says: a love-letter to what we once knew that no longer exists. The problem is: it’s not nearly as developed or as good as what came before. It’s a bit like the Star Wars sequels in that it knows there’s a fanbase and knows there’s a deep lore and respect for the classics and the masters that came before it, but instead of doing the same amount of work to try and capture that same feeling - that same lightning in a bottle - they simply rehashed and went off-script for what they thought was both best and interesting for them to do. The sad part is: they’re right. I hope the fans enjoy this one more than I did, because I may have hyped this up more in my head. All in all, I think everything here is JUST OKAY. I’m not necessarily extraordinarily expressed or anything but I’m just content with it. I take my hat off to Curt and -more specifically- Shane for trying their best and their damndest, but I don’t know if it truly paid off, damned as the task may have been from the start. Only time will tell, I suppose. Happy Halloween, y’all! Tribute to Terror (23:48) By Curt Tuckfield and Shane Hunt

Who the hell is that creeping around the corners of my isolated house in the middle of the night? Cannibal Siren? Is that you? No, it’s just my one-eyed cat. That’s not a joke, my one-eyed cat really does peer at me from around corners. She’s missing her left eye, so it’s pretty funny to see her peering at me from right-hand side walls. It’s even funnier when it’s on the left-side cause then I’m like “You can’t fucking see me, you nerd.” Anywho, Cannibal Siren come on down, join me on the couch with my one-eyed cat. What’s that in front of us? I’m glad you asked. It’s delicious, piping hot, melted perfection in the form of grilled cheese. Wait… What’s with the sour face? Does it not taste right? Oh… Shit… Who…? Who put this wicked creepy pasta in my grilled cheese?! It ruined it. It ruined everything. It ruined my night. It ruined this episode. Fuck! Well, I guess we better read them, right? WELL, we’re here kids. Step out. Stretch your legs. Get yourself some fresh air. Don’t worry, it’s not real- it’s all just what Mother wants you to see and what she wants you to feel. Don’t worry, she’ll take care of you. She’ll hide you from the evil and sinful and treacherous that seek to do you harm, that value your life no more than a number or a tortilla chip. So useless, so brittle, so easy to destroy, corrupt, dispose... or consume. Mother wouldn’t do that to you. Mother wants to take care of you. Mother wants to see you grow big and strong. Mother wants to see what you’re capable of and what magic your life holds. Again, you don’t have to worry! Take a deep breath, we’ll have all the time in the world to wait and see, after all. Because here -HERE- time only lasts so long. It’ll be over before you know it. It won’t hurt… that much. I promise. Mother promises. So come on in. Dip the toe. The proverbial embrace of Mother is ALWAYS warm, like a big hug with so many arms and so many eyes and so many voices to reassure you that EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT. Hush now, child. You’re home. There’s nothing to be afraid of anymore: it’s only US. Don’t make me turn this car around, kids… we’ve still got some ways to go. Where are we going? I’m not quite sure, yet. We’ll figure out when we get there, and I promise the answer is DEFINITELY not ‘the friends we made along the way.’ If that were the case, we’d be kinda screwed, right? Lest we ignore the literal Nazis, the Neo-Nazis, Black Jesus, Drug Addicts, Uncle Adolf, and maniacs we’ve met along the way… And today, we see the culmination of several more narratives. What of The Watchers and the Old Crone? What of Ben (that I appropriately call BRAD for more than half of the episode before realizing his name is actually BEN) and what of Karen? Important conversations are had. Trust is made and broken, sometimes even in the same sentence! And, last but not least, we have WhereAmI? Reading more graphic sexual acts. This is what you’re here for, after all. No need to hide from it. Embrace it, child - you’ve come this far. There’s no going back now. The story is told. The words are heard. The door is open. Be it Q or be it Mother, something is waiting on the other side.
