Dr. Torkil Færø, expert in emergency medicine and wellness, returns for his second appearance on the podcast to share insights on how modern stress impacts our health. With 25 years of experience, Torkil wrote The Pulse Cure, the subject of his first episode with us and a bestselling book on how Heart Rate Variability (HRV) can help manage stress, reduce inflammation, and improve overall well-being. In his latest book, Vilekuren: The Rest Cure, Torkil explores the essential practice of rest—something that’s become more important than ever in today’s fast-paced world. Rest, he argues, is crucial for our health, but it's often neglected. As someone who has dedicated this year to slowing down and releasing busyness from her life, Susanne is especially excited about this conversation. In this episode, Torkil and Susanne discuss the importance of rest in improving health and performance. They explore how hidden stressors, like technology and work pressure, deplete our energy and how mindful practices like breathwork and meditation can restore balance. Torkil also highlights the need for women to align rest with their natural cycles, improving health and reducing stress-related issues. Ultimately, Torkil and Susanne advocate for a shift in how we approach stress and recovery, encouraging us to prioritize rest for better energy, performance, and quality of life. Hosted on Acast. More from Take a moment with Holzweiler
Recorded live in front of an audience at the Skøyen Design Festival. Most people know Magne Furuholmen as one of the three behind a-ha. But he has lived two creative lives at once, music and visual art, side by side for as long as he can remember. We talk about how he actually creates, how he has balanced both all these years, and why he starts every project by asking what he should not do, not what he should do. A slower conversation about building by taking away, making peace with not knowing, and staying curious enough to keep being a beginner.
Everywhere I go, people tell me the same thing. They are busy. The calendar is full from morning to evening, and it feels like running on a hamster wheel that never stops. I lived like that for many years myself, convinced that busy was the only way to get anywhere. Then I stopped, and I can promise you.. it is another life.
This episode is with Veslemøy, the woman behind Nektar, one of my favourite restaurants in Oslo and the place behind our latest Holzweiler campaign. I am a food person, deeply. Real ingredients, local producers, picking things yourself when you can. Veslemøy is one of the very few people who actually lives that all the way, not just talks about it. She even keeps her own bees in her own garden, and this year they gave her the earliest honey harvest she's ever had. Every time you walk into Nektar you feel taken in with open arms, like you already belong there. Nektar is a family business, just like Holzweiler, and everyone who works there actually feels like family. Veslemøy does breathwork with her staff before every shift, and it shows: "Things don't go faster if you move faster.. the opposite happens." We talk about how Nektar came to be, foraging her own garden for dinner, why an animal needs a good life to actually taste good, and what it took to build something entirely from love and passion instead of investors and loans. I left this conversation so inspired by her. So let's take a moment with Veslemøy from Nektar. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
After almost a year of silence, I'm back. I never really explained why the show went quiet. The easy story is that I got busy. The true one is that I wasn't okay. This first episode back is the honest version.. why I really stepped away, what a whole year of slowing down actually taught me, and the question I am still living my way into: is it possible to keep building real things from a slower, more honest place? I share the moment a friend reframed my "burnout" as a sabbatical, and how it changed everything. The four things this pause taught me. And a small seed I want to leave you with, especially if some part of you is quietly wondering whether slowing down means you are falling behind. We live in a world that applauds doing, doing, doing. More people are burnt out and tired than ever. This is my small offering in the other direction.. permission to do less, better, and to take your own life back. So.. take a moment with me. ❤️ Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
