When God Came Down: Seeing the Father in Jesus

Kaleo Church

Show Notes

In a world filled with confusion about who God is and what He is like, this episode invites us to look where God Himself tells us to look—at Jesus. Drawing from John 12 and the Christmas story, we see that clarity about God is not lacking; God has revealed Himself fully in His Son. Jesus is the light who came down, not to judge the world, but to save it—descending from the highest glory to the lowest place so that sinners could come to Him just as they are. This message exposes our tendency to climb ladders of performance and self-righteousness and calls us instead to let go and behold the gloryof God’s grace revealed in Christ. If you long to truly know God and find what is finally enough, this episode will lead you to the beauty, humility, and saving love of Jesus.

What does it really mean to fear the Lord? Sometimes the Bible tells us not to be afraid and then at other times it calls us to fear the Lord, how do these two things go together? In this message from Exodus 20, discover how the fear of punishment can drive us away from God, while the overwhelming experience of his grace and forgiveness produces something even deeper that draws us near. The first fear can improve our behavior but only the second fear can transform our hearts.

Our words have the power to do far more than hurt feelings—they can take something from another person that is more valuable than money: their good name. Exodus 20:16 calls us not to bear false witness, and Scripture shows us that this command reaches into one of our most common sins: gossip. We may tell things that are technically true and still use our words to damage someone's reputation, stir up division, and rob them of the opportunity to tell their side of the story. But the gospel gives us something far better than simply learning to keep our mouths shut. Jesus, the Word made flesh, came not to expose and condemn his people but to reconcile us to God, cover our sin, intercede for us, and give us a secure identity that no one can steal. Come hear how the ninth commandment exposes our hearts—and how the words of Jesus can transform the way we speak about one another.
