What if we've brought a scarcity mindset into our relationship with God? We can become so accustomed to expecting less that we stop asking, seeking and believing for more. But in Matthew 7, Jesus challenges that way of thinking, reminding us that we don't come to a reluctant God, but to a good Father who knows what we need and delights in us. Pastor Georg Pingel unpacks three lessons from Jesus' invitation to ask, seek and knock: understanding who we're asking, recognising what our Father gives, and discovering what His goodness sets us free to do. When we know the heart of our Father, we're no longer driven by scarcity or settling for the counterfeits the world offers. We're free to receive His grace and live differently because of it. Jesus' invitation isn't just about what we receive, but how we live and how we treat others. When we truly understand the goodness of God, it changes our expectations, our relationship with Him and the way we extend that same goodness to those around us. What if you've been trying to earn something from God that he's already given you? Building on his message Ask, Seek, Knock, Georg Pingel, Campus Pastor of our Sydney City campus, sits down with Jay Jury, to talk about the goodness of our Father. Georg shares honestly about the scarcity mindset he had to unlearn, the way our earthly fathers shape how we see God, and why Jesus' invitation to ask, seek and knock was never about prying open a reluctant God's door. ✨ Key Themes • Scarcity isn't just about money: not enough time, not enough love, and the feeling of living constantly "in debt". • Present, not divided: you share your time, but you don't have to share your love. • Our fathers shape our picture of God: how wanting to make his dad proud showed Georg his own performance mindset. • "Daddy, say go Noah": why it's okay to bring our need for approval to God. • God at the door: not hiding at the back, but waiting expectantly for us to knock. • Counterfeit rest: rest isn't the absence of doing, it's the presence of the Father. • "You guys ask": Jesus' words are plural, so we ask, seek and knock for others too. 📖 Scripture References • Matthew 7:7–12: ask, seek, knock, and the goodness of the Father • Romans 5:8: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us • Galatians 1:6: Paul asks why the Galatians are so quickly turning from the gospel • Hebrews 13:5: "I will never leave you nor forsake you" • Luke 19:10: Jesus came to seek and save the lost 📚 Resources • Georg's message Ask, Seek, Knock, the previous episode of the Hillsong Australia Podcast 🚶 Next Steps • Notice where you feel "in debt": time, love or performance. Bring it honestly to God. • Be fully present: next time you're with the people you love, give them all of you, without the guilt. • Tell God what you need: like a five-year-old calling out "say go Noah", bring your need for his voice to him. • Rethink rest: this week, let rest be time in God's presence, not just time switched off. • Ask, seek and knock for someone else: choose one person to pray for this week. 🔗 Links 🌐 Learn more about Hillsong Australia: https://hillsong.com/australia 📍 Find a Hillsong Australia location near you: https://hillsong.com/australia 📲 Subscribe to the Hillsong Australia Podcast on your favourite platform and follow @hillsongaustralia Bringing Sunday into your everyday.

If Jesus has already won, why does following him still feel like such a fight? Nathan McLean sits down with Dale Simons, Campus Pastor at Hillsong Melbourne East, to unpack his message This Means War. Dale shares the personal moment that sparked the message, and why he's convinced the fullness of life Jesus promises isn't taken without a fight. Together they talk honestly about the pull of old habits, the danger of a "half gospel", and why winning the war within has far less to do with trying harder than we think. ✨ Key Themes - The promise required a battle: what Israel entering the Promised Land teaches us about the promises of God. - Not trying harder: it's not a gospel of works, it's about feeding your spirit. - Look at Jesus, not the struggle: why old habits lose their pull in his presence. - Snacking vs feasting: a verse a day is good, but it isn't a meal. - Regularity, not religiosity: keeping rhythms with God when you don't feel it. - Repent, replace, refill: three rhythms for the war within. - The full gospel: forgiveness is the entry point, not the finish line. 📖 Scripture References - Galatians 5:16–17: the war between the Spirit and our sinful nature - John 16:7: Jesus says it's better that he goes, so the Holy Spirit can come - Romans 8:11: the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us - James 4:8: draw near to God and he will draw near to you - John 10:10: the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy; Jesus came to give life to the full 📚 Resources - Dale's message This Means War, the previous episode of the Hillsong Australia Podcast 🚶 Next Steps - Trade a snack for a feast: set aside unhurried time in the Word this week, ask God to speak, and dwell on it. - Pray beyond the wish list: spend part of your prayer time simply waiting on God. - Shift your focus: instead of fixating on the habit you're fighting, spend that energy looking at Jesus. - Find your people: read a passage with a friend and talk about what stands out. - Ask to be refilled: invite the Holy Spirit to fill you, every day. 🔗 Links 🌐 Learn more about Hillsong Australia: hillsong.com/australia 📍 Find a Hillsong Australia location near you: hillsong.com/australia 📲 Subscribe to the Hillsong Australia Podcast on your favourite platform and follow @hillsongaustralia Bringing Sunday into your everyday.
There's a battle happening within each of us, between the life we want to live and the things that pull us away from God. But we haven't been left to fight that battle alone. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, empowering us to bring the reality of God's Kingdom into our everyday lives. So how do we begin to win the war within? Through three rhythms: repent, replace and refill. Discover what it looks like to bring our hearts before God, fill our minds with His truth and allow the Holy Spirit to renew, fuel and empower us to live the life He has called us to. God has more for us than a life of simply going through the motions. It's time to move beyond religion and step into the Spirit-filled life He intended for us. What do you do when trusting God means letting go of the answers you want? Building on her message at Hillsong Conference 2026, Danielle Jeyaratnam, Lead Pastor of Hillsong New York, sits down with Shekeinah Hill to talk about what surrender actually looks like in everyday life. Danielle has said some big yeses, from the Hills to City, to Perth, to New York. But this conversation is about the yeses nobody saw. A self-confessed control freak who likes to know every detail, she talks honestly about fear, trust, slowing down and learning to rely on God when the explanations don't come. ✨ Key Themes - Surrender is trust, not loss: an active leaning into Jesus, even when every yes means saying goodbye to something. - A thousand little yeses: the small, unseen choices that shaped Danielle long before the big moves. - Surrendering fear: from staying home to avoid rejection to never saying no to a God-breathed opportunity out of fear. - Slowing down: why stillness in God's presence became key to discerning what's next. - Unanswered questions: what helps her keep trusting when life doesn't go to plan. - "Our kingdom come": her daughter's Lord's Prayer mix-up, and the quiet signs we're building our own kingdom. - A family's yes: raising four daughters through a life of moves, goodbyes and following Jesus. 📖 Scripture References - Isaiah 55:8–9: God's thoughts and ways are higher than ours - Matthew 6:10: "Your kingdom come, your will be done" - Philippians 1:21 + Luke 9:23: surrender always involves dying to something - Matthew 6:24: we can't serve two masters 💬 Quotes "We all surrender to something, or someone. It's just who do we choose that to be." – Danielle "Trust sounds so beautiful until you're living with unanswered questions." – Shekeinah "If we don't slow down enough to listen to the voice of God, how can we possibly discern whether the next step is the thing that we should be doing?" – Danielle "I can trust that God does, even when I can't see." – Danielle 🚶 Next Steps - Answer Danielle's question: what's one area of your life where God is asking you to surrender? - Pray the Lord's Prayer slowly and notice where "your" quietly means "mine". - Make space this week to be still before God, not just to talk. - Say one small yes you've been avoiding out of fear. - Share this with someone walking through a harder season.
