Seán Cavanagh: big occasions, shimmy origins & motivation

Our guest is five-time All-Star winner Seán Cavanagh, who has won GAA All-Ireland Football Championships for his county Tyrone at Minor and Senior levels.

Seán discusses his initial exposure to the big occasions; bus journeys, parades and feeling part of something special. He describes how other sports benefited his football career, revealing the origin of the famous ‘Cavanagh shimmy’. A striking theme throughout the conversation, taking motivation from setbacks, is a lesson to all for both sport and life.

Every Tuesday well known Irish stars will share memories from their early sporting careers and reflect on the defining moments from playing Minor and how that shaped them both on and off the pitch.
