Show Notes
Beth’s mum Dee joins us on this week’s episode. Dee admits she’s never listened to the Tipsy Topic podcast as she is afraid of what she might hear and we fear, she’s right. One year Beth’s parents decided to get her no Christmas presents as punishment for her recent stent of bad behaviour, did she deserve it? Listen to this week’s episode to find out! Dee address’ the crazy story Beth told us back in episode 2 about her jumping out the second floor of their family home in a flee to escape the consequences of her actions. Who knew Beth can sing and play hockey? Dee tells us some of her proudest moments about Beth, which included her winning the talent show in her secondary school and scoring a goal in several of her hockey matches. The mother and daughter duo dive into their favourite / least favourite things about each other and at this point both Beth and Dee are beginning to think Beth is ‘invincible’ having survived a lot of wild situations, which she hasn’t even shared half of yet. Want to hear Beth’s mam on the pod again soon to spill some more on Beth’s secrets and childhood stores? If you have any questions, dilemmas or stories for Beth’s and her mum Dee, please send to [email protected] and we will discuss on the pod.

This week, Beth drops the bombshell no one was expecting. She’s pressing pause on the podcast and taking a break to focus on her main‑character era. Beth reflects on how much she’s grown since episode one, from drinking a bottle of wine every week to being six months sober, sharing her ADHD and OCD journeys, and treating the pod like her weekly diary. The biggest shock may be that all of this was triggered by listening to Billy Joel on the bus (?) but she also shares the big Leo energy, career and money plans that have made her decide to step back for a while. There's lots of big things on the horizon for Beth (some you'll have to wait to see), along with a secret spam TikTok to keep you all up to date. It's not goodbye, it's see you later. She has to go her own way... (Thanks High School Musical) Email Beth at [email protected]
Beth is back and buzzing because life is finally life-ing. She shares her big girl job update, how things are feeling very “on the up,” and why she’s fully leaning into her Leo era. But of course, it wouldn’t be a simple life update without a little chaos. From crazy coffeeshop stories in Amsterdam, including not being able to find yourself in a “mirror” and getting the fear after a messy selfie, to still planning her future life on a €200k houseboat. There’s also a public apology to every girl who warned her about getting the coil (you were right). Got a dilemma or a thought you need to get off your chest? Email Beth at [email protected]
Hold on tight girls, you're in for a whirlwind this week as two of Finglas' greatest redheads are in the studio together. Beth is joined by Carly Mahady, who blew up online after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in her mid-20s. A certified messer, Carly has faced life through and after her illness with a big heart, a new lease of life and just a little bit of divilment. Beth and Carly talk their need for realness as two neurodivergent queens, the pressures and parasocial weirdness of being on social media and why finding whimsy in your hobbies, without turning them into side hustles, will bring you endless joy. Carly also shares her early signs and symptoms of breast cancer, along with the new found love she has for her body and all it does, letting her live fully and without fear. This special bonus Palentine’s episode of Tipsy Topics sees Beth joined by the iconic Shane McCarthy for a wild and messy love dilemma. A listener writes in about discovering that her long-term boyfriend and her best friend have been secretly messaging, flirting and basically having an emotional affair behind her back. Beth and Shane don’t hold back as they unpack the betrayal, the “it just happened” excuses and the absolute audacity of the best friend who suddenly wants to talk it out. Although they're just short of gathering the balaclavas and eggs, they give some very real advice about self‑respect, boundaries and why you cannot heal in the same place that broke you. They dive into why jealousy and self-hate are often the reason behind this kind of behaviour, and how to cope when you lose both your partner and your closest friend in one go. But it's not all doom and gloom, Beth and Shane know that karma, therapy and hot girl summer energy can be big healers, and remembering that the one thing no one can take from you is your heart and your self-worth. This Valentine’s Day, Tipsy Topics, I Said What I Said, and Unscripted come together for a very special crossover episode celebrating Palentine’s — because love isn’t just about romance, it’s about friendship, growth, and the people who get you through it all. Beth, Shane, and Niamh sit down for a no-filter, chaotic chat about love in all its forms. From unhinged first dates, to red flags and feral stories like getting sick during a very intimate moment, there's nothing but honesty here. The trio also play a game of Two Truths One Lie, talk about how you know someone is 'the one' and get deep talking about the importance of self-worth and self-love before anything else. With all the oversharing there's also ideas for your palentine's day plans, along with movie recommendations for the love birds and those who need to be reminded why love might not be all it's cracked up to be. Whether you’re single, taken, situationship-ing, or just here for the craic, this episode is your reminder that love comes in many forms, and sometimes the best ones are platonic.
