When we face troubled times we often wish it wasn't the time we were living in and that the troubled times hadn't come to us. There's a lot we can learn from Daniel in the Bible. Daniel lived his entire life, pretty much, in exile and it wasn't really his fault that he was there. On Sunday 3rd May we continued our new series in Daniel and Tim spoke on how Daniel resolved to honour God and live courageously despite the troubled times he lived in. Daniel set his heart on following God. To live faithfully in troubled times we must resolve, that is to set our heart, to live for God. Daniel lived courageously. To be faithful we need courage. Daniel experienced moments of God's favour and compassion in his troubling time. We need to be on the look out, to expect and be ready to experience and encounter the love of God.

What keeps us going? Where do we place our confidence? What is it that sustains us? On Sunday 18th October we returned to our series in 2 Corinthians, picking up again at chapter 4. In this chapter we see that the Gospel speaks for itself and we can take confidence in that, the unseen is more important than the seen - God uses our human frailty and vulnerability, and finally the momentary and transient will give way to eternity. When things look bleak don't look out, look up!
Baptisms are special occasions at ACC and we were excited to have a baptism service on 11th October. As part of this Tim spoke about living water. 💧 Water is central to what it means to have life in our world yet water itself isn't a living thing. 💧 No matter how much we drink we get thirsty again. We are thirsty naturally for water and we are thirsty for more in our lives. What this world need is living water from heaven. Conflict is inevitable, even conflict in the church. But not all conflict is bad. On Sunday 20th September we continued our series in the book of 2 Corinthians, reading 2 Corinthians 1:12-2:17 and we looked at how Paul shows us a way of responding to conflict that might be helpful for us all these years later in the 21st century. There are moments in life when we need comfort. On Sunday 13th September Vanessa continued our new series in the book of 2 Corinthians and read from 2 Corinthians 1:1-11 where the word comfort appears ten times! God comforts us and we are to comfort others, but the ultimate comfort we have is in the promise of Jesus returning and fully reigning.
