When you think about it, Rick and The Universe have a very special relationship.
2 albums about Mars, No Earthly Connection, Space Oddity, Life on Mars, the list goes on and so it was a perfect fit when Rick got involved in the Starmus festival, the brainchild of Sir Brian May, Garik Israelian and Prof. Stephen Hawking, 15 years ago.
Since then, this combination of science, music and art has attracted some great names, like Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and a plethora of Nasa alumni, and for this years festival, Rick was asked to compose a special piece of music called Echoes From Black Holes, to be performed at the Starmus Festival XIII in Tenerife.
In this special backstage edition of the Myths and Legends of Rick Wakeman, he explains how he got to compose this piece, plus we'll hear from Commander Chris Hadfield, Nasa and ISS astronaut and Stuart Morley, Rick's musical collaborator for the piece.
