Tony Sullivan | Liverpool Sunday League Culture, Life In Non-League & Pre-Match Shaved Heads!
I Had Trials Once...Show Notes
We're back with another episode of I Had Trials Once and this time we're joined by Prescott Cables, Stalybridge Celtic, Southport, Altrincham, Lancaster & Chorley player...TONY SULLIVAN!
Tony sits down with Gaz & Jord to discuss everything from life growing up in Liverpool with the sunday league football culture to becoming a legend at Stalybridge Celtic.
The lads start the pod discussing Tony's upbringing in Liverpool, what makes up the scouse mentality and why there's nothing in football like the Liverpool Sunday League culture.
Tony then talks about his early life in non-league football playing for £50 a week, making the move to Stalybridge where he played with Lee Trundle and went on to become a club legend before talking about gaining that extra 1% by shaving their heads to intimidate the opposition.
The trio then chat in depth about football dark arts, the importance of taking accountability & having a responsibility to have a relationship with the non-league fans.
Tony then speaks about his decision to call time on his playing career and move into management, managing against Jonno & Bern and why having a good dressing room is crucial.
Finally they end the pod talking about non-league managers going to watch under pressure managers, his experience managing Cammell Laird and Witton Albion.

We're back with another exclusive episode of A (Non) League Of Their Own!

This episode of IHTO was filmed last year as a Patreon exclusive, but we thought with Lewis taking over at Avro, it would be the right time to release it for free!
Grant Shenton joins Gaz Seddon, Gary Stopforth and the NLOTO lads to reveal the inside story behind his move from Avro into the Radcliffe manager’s seat, including how the opportunity came about, what he’s been asked to do and whether Jordan Hulme will remain captain.
Danny Meadowcroft joins I Had Trials Once to tell some incredible stories from a career that took him from Stockport County into the professional game & deep into the chaos of Non-League football.
