The AARO Files: The 2025 Annual UAP Report, Official Responses, and Conspiracies | MHP 07.29.26.

In September 1964, a bow hunter named Donald Shrum became separated from his companions in the rugged Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California. Forced to spend the night in a tree, Shrum claimed he witnessed a massive, silent, cigar-shaped UFO hovering above the forest, followed by the appearance of strange humanoid figures and mechanical beings with glowing eyes. What followed was an alleged nightlong confrontation in which Shrum attempted to defend himself with his hunting bow as the mysterious visitors reportedly tried to force him from his refuge. More than six decades later, the extraordinary incident near Cisco Grove remains one of the strangest close-encounter reports in UFO history. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we revisit the chilling Cisco Grove encounter, examining Shrum's remarkable account, his own recollections of that terrifying night, the unusual claims surrounding possible physical evidence, and other details behind one of the most unusual UFO encounters of the last century. An unidentified aerial object spotted near Israel's northern border with Lebanon has sparked intrigue after triggering military alerts and prompting a significant response from the Israel Defense Forces. As fighter jets were scrambled and ground forces searched for a possible intrusion, unusual video footage emerged showing a mysterious object that authorities could not immediately identify. Was it a drone, a balloon, or something else entirely? This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine the extraordinary incident, the latest reporting, and what the available imagery may—or may not—reveal about the object at the center of the mystery. We also explore Israel's history of UFO sightings and extraordinary claims, from alleged encounters with glowing objects near the town of Kadima to a former Israeli space security chief's claims about a secret extraterrestrial federation. We dive into all this, and more about what the latest imagery captured over Israel might reveal. SHOW NOTES Below are links to stories and other content featured in this episode. In the autumn of 1973, the United States experienced one of the most remarkable UFO waves in modern history. From bizarre reports of alleged landings and humanoid occupants to the famous Pascagoula encounter and the Coyne helicopter incident, hundreds of sightings emerged across the country during a period when UFOs seemed to be almost everywhere. Similar high-profile encounters continued throughout the 1970s and 1980s—but in the decades since, something appears to have changed. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we revisit the extraordinary UFO wave of 1973 and ask a deceptively simple question: where have all the UFOs gone? While UFO reports certainly haven't disappeared, the classic high-strangeness Close Encounter seems conspicuously rarer today. We examine what factors could explain the apparent shift, along with speculations about what it all could potentially mean. On April 24, 1964, Socorro, New Mexico police officer Lonnie Zamora reported encountering a strange egg-shaped craft resting in the desert, accompanied by two small figures and bearing an unusual red insignia on its side. Moments later, the object reportedly lifted from the ground with a roar and disappeared into the distance. Investigated by the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book, the Socorro incident would become one of the most famous—and perplexing—UFO cases of the twentieth century. In this episode of The Micah Hanks Program, we take a deep dive into the Socorro mystery, examining Zamora's remarkable account, the physical evidence investigators documented at the scene, and the competing theories that have emerged in the decades since. We also look closely at one of the case's most intriguing details: the mysterious insignia Zamora said he observed on the craft, including the controversy surrounding its true appearance and whether this curious symbol might have held the key to solving what has often been described as one of Project Blue Book's best-documented unexplained cases. The Pentagon has released its sixth tranche of records under the PURSUE initiative, revealing an unusual collection of UAP-related material spanning more than seven decades of American military and intelligence history. From newly released historical records involving former Project Blue Book chief Edward J. Ruppelt to documents produced under the Defense Intelligence Agency's secretive AAWSAP program—including studies involving warp drives, wormholes, and reported biological effects associated with anomalous aerospace encounters—the files offer a remarkable glimpse into the government's evolving interest in UFOs and advanced aerospace technologies. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine what the Pentagon's latest files actually reveal, including what is genuinely new in the latest release, what has been publicly available before, and what these records can tell us about more than 70 years of government efforts to understand unexplained phenomena in the skies.
