In today's episode, I talk about how our constant pursuit of convenience is actually making us more disconnected, anxious, and lonely. While it is easy to blame corporations for the lack of community spaces and the rise of mindless consumption, the truth is that we are voluntarily voting for this world with our everyday choices and our wallets. We trick ourselves into thinking that drive-thrus, food delivery, and AI tools save us time for things we care about, but we usually just waste that saved time scrolling on our screens. Worse, we are now outsourcing the core experiences of being human (like thinking, writing, and connecting with others) to algorithms and apps. To break free from this passenger mode lifestyle, I share how we can reclaim our humanity by deliberately choosing inconvenience in small ways every day. By making the conscious effort to walk to a local coffee shop, go to the library, or just leave the phone at home, we introduce the healthy friction needed to build genuine relationships and make our neighborhoods feel alive again. --- Check out my habit tracking app: https://feelwrite.app/

More from Finding Solace
In today's episode, I dive into the idea that dating is supposed to be fun, and that modern dating sucks because we take ourselves too seriously all the time. I end the episode by talking about ways to improve your dating life by slowing down and enjoying the process. --- Support the show monthly: https://solacespeaks.com/
Everyone knows about the rise of AI slop, but have you ever thought about how AI slop shapes our culture and the physical world around us? In today's episode, I talk about how AI is degrading human creativity and communication skills, how AI art is devaluing real art, and how to fight back. --- Support the show monthly: https://solacespeaks.com/
In today's episode, I talk about the art of "endeavoring" and how most people haven't ever truly tried to achieve their goals. I talk about how to focus on a goal, to learn a new skill, or embark on a new adventure without burning out, and how to spot the difference between endeavoring and "grinding".
In today's episode, I give an extended compilation of some of my more recent conversations, starting with the Philosophy of Alan Watts, and diving into topics like dating, consumerism, and mindfulness. In today's episode, I talk about how old Minecraft forces you to focus, enhances your creativity, and improves your attention span. As the game has evolved, Mojang has continuously added more content to keep players engaged, but the most engaging way to play the game is still found in old versions. --- Join my Discord and apply to join the Minecraft serer by following the instructions in the #info channel: https://discord.com/invite/jreFGvRmGd
