The time has come for us to review our 2026 campaign, a season that produced lots of high’s and just as many lows, all in which culminated to being the first side in AFL history to lose a wildcard final, but is there optimism or pessimism towards 2027 will be for the Pies?
The last few days have served as a brutal reminder on how quick things can change in football. Our season came to an end at the hands-off the Bulldogs with a three-point defeat, meanwhile we abruptly said goodbye to two of our all time greats in what was a very heavy weekend for Magpie supporters around the country.
We were no match for the reigning premiers on the MCG, going down by 63 points in a high scoring encounter on Friday night, but despite some more casualty’s to deal with, all eyes are on this Friday night as we participate in the AFL’s first ever wildcard final against the Dogs.
It was another case of deja vu as the Pies and the Hawks played out a draw for the second time this season, and although it was the full four points that were on offer, the signs we saw at the MCG on Saturday suggest that for this season and beyond, things are looking good at the Collingwood Football Club.
The kids went to Perth and delivered not only a return to the winners list but also confirmation that Collingwood will feature in finals football in 2026, with an 19-point triumph over West Coast. It was an impressive performance that creates plenty of intrigue on what the next few weeks will hold. Join Nicholas Sacco and Marcus Callahan as we chat through what made the win so great and which players stood tall, we hear if the fans are just as excited as we are about playing in September and we hear from Serge on our heartbreaking VFL defeat.
