336 | Want a More "Expensive-Looking" Wardrobe? Start Here
Her Style Podcast | Shopping, Color Palettes, Fashion, Wardrobe, Outfits, ClothingShow Notes
When I see yet another article or YouTube video promising to teach me how to "look expensive," I can't help but roll my eyes just a little. Not because I think looking high-end is a bad goal. I actually think that's what a lot of us are after! It's just that the advice all sounds the same:
Wear monochromatic outfits. Buy a crisp, white button-down shirt. Carry a structured handbag. Stick to classic neutrals.
These suggestions aren't necessarily wrong, but they're not teaching you what you actually need to know.
So today, I want to unpack what really creates that polished, pulled-together impression, even as the trends come and go, and where I'd encourage you to start if you want a wardrobe that looks more elevated and expensive.
Because after almost twenty years of helping women build wardrobes, and watching some women spend more money in one shopping trip than I've spent in the last decade combined, I don't think we're responding to price tags nearly as much as we think we are.

Well, I have a personal announcement to share with you today, and I have to admit, it's one I've been going back and forth about.
How do you know when something is actually missing from your wardrobe?
Knowing your best colors can make shopping so much easier. You can walk into a store, scan a rack, and have a pretty good idea of which colors are going to light you up... and which ones probably aren't worth your time.
Welcome back to Her Style Podcast! Last week, I gave you one of my favorite questions to ask when you're considering something new, which is: Do I have a job for this in my wardrobe?
A few weeks ago, I shared my Fall 2026 Trend episode and walked you through some of the questions I use to decide whether a trend is actually worth trying. But now that fall shopping is underway, I want to take that conversation one step further. I'm starting to see which trends women are actually bringing home and wearing — and there are a handful that seem to be fitting into a lot of everyday wardrobes especially well. So today, I want to highlight five of those trends, discuss why I think they're proving to be so wearable, and give you one very simple way to figure out which of this season's trends might actually make your wardrobe more useful. Because sometimes the best trend for you isn't the one that catches your eye first. It's the one that solves a problem you already had.
