Lower the stress in your life with this 5 minute a day tip | Mindfulness, Meditation, and Cultivating a Disciplined Mind with Manoj Diaz
The Ellen Fisher PodcastShow Notes
How often do you find yourself going through the motions of life without patience or living in the present moment? Hurried busyness is so common in our modern lives that it’s become the norm. Even if you have never meditated regularly, you likely know the feeling of being in flow — that pure state of presence and calm, which can often feel so unattainable in a culture that constantly presses us to outdo yesterday’s productivity. Thankfully, meditation has been having a zeitgeist moment. More people than ever are familiar with the concept of mindfulness, and nowadays those who are dabbling in meditation don’t always fit the stereotype. It seems the deeper and deeper enmeshment of technology in our lives has also brought greater accessibility to meditation teachers, especially for those of us who need more guidance in a practice that feels so foreign.
One of these meditation teachers and thought leaders is Manoj Diaz, a speaker and meditation teacher who was born in Sri Lanka and later raised in Australia. In this episode Manoj gives us simple steps to start a mindfulness practice with meditation and breath work. While starting meditation and breath work may feel daunting, it doesn’t have to be. This conversation aims to demystify meditation, show you how to quiet your mind, and inspire you to open up and slow down.
this episode covers:
How to start a meditation practice and the reasons why
The benefits of breath work
How to be more present and connected in your life
Cultivating a disciplined mind
Why it can be hard to quiet our mind
How just 5 minutes of meditation a day can change your life

More from The Ellen Fisher Podcast
In this episode of The Ellen Fisher Podcast, I sit down with Kayde Mason and Katy Faust for a raw debate on IVF, surrogacy, and donor conception—are these modern paths to parenthood crossing ethical lines, or worth celebrating?
In this episode, I sit down with filmmaker Benjamin Nolot, who is the founder and CEO of Exodus Cry, a non profit fighting to end trafficking and sexual exploitation. We discuss the rapidly changing world of commercial sexual exploitation and the rise of platforms like OnlyFans, the emergence of AI-generated pornography, and how these technologies are reshaping cultural attitudes toward sex, intimacy, and human dignity. Benjamin also shares insights from his latest documentary, Buying Her, which exposes the often-ignored demand side of the sex trade: the men who purchase sex.
In this episode, I sit down with debt elimination expert and The Ramsey Show co-host Jade Warshaw to unpack a truth most people never hear: your money problem isn’t about your income — it’s about your emotions. Jade shares her own journey from financial stress and overwhelm to becoming debt-free, and the rock-bottom moment that forced her to confront the beliefs and behaviors driving her spending. We talk about why making more money rarely fixes what’s actually broken, the biggest lie keeping families financially stuck, and why so many high-income earners are still drowning in debt.
