Summary
Martha Spencer murders her identical twin sister, Mona, driven by jealousy over Mona's engagement to Bill Everett. After the crime, Martha cleverly assumes Mona's identity, dressing in her clothes and staging the scene to appear as a suicide. Despite the emotional turmoil, Martha believes her plan is flawless, confident that no one, including Bill, will be able to distinguish between them.
As weeks pass, Martha navigates her new life as Mona, but her facade begins to crack when she discovers Bill signed the marriage license with a different name, George Garrett. This revelation raises suspicions and leads Martha to confront Bill about his feelings. In a tense moment, Bill reveals he is in love with another woman, Lois, and plans to end their relationship. As the story unfolds, the consequences of Martha's actions spiral out of control, culminating in a tragic twist of fate that leaves her trapped in her web of deceit.
