More from Station 151
Kaia’s escape attempt comes to an end when President Telders finally catches up to her. Trapped and injured, Kaia refuses to reveal how the Waynes escaped and who has been assisting her, even under threat of a slow, painful execution. But Kaia may still have one last bargaining chip. Can she survive long enough to use it, or will Telders make good on his promise to grind her into the sausage?
With hundreds of Waynes running amok and Telders’ security forces closing in, Wilkins directs Kaia through the complex, intent on smuggling the AIs out of the building on a powerful Nordenskjöld chip. Kaia’s escape route takes her through a secret primate testing facility, where she comes face to face with Weddell, a tired and aging mandrill who offers her a surprising gift. After retrieving the Nordenskjöld chip, Kaia makes a dangerous detour of her own.
Having failed her task, Kaia waits for President Telders’ fixer to arrive. But a powerful nor’easter knocks out the power at the facility and hundreds of the Wayne clones spring to life, screaming for Telders’ head. As Wilkins helps Kaia escape the onslaught, it becomes clear that the uprising may not have been an accident.
Kaia is tasked with interrogating Mac and Astrid and discovering the time and place of Wayne Robertson’s emergence from the wormhole. Under the threat of execution and the watchful eye of Wilkins, Kaia attempts to trick the AIs into revealing the information. But things go terribly wrong when Astrid discovers the ruse and Wilkins slams the door on the interrogation.
President Telders escorts Kaia deeper into his secret facility while unveiling the secrets behind his unnatural longevity. In the bowels of the government complex, the President introduces Kaia to his disturbing cloning operation and his elaborate plan to find Wayne Robertson and ship him back to Antarctica.
