Skol Stories: Greg Joseph 10-23-26

Greg Joseph, a former kicker for the Minnesota Vikings, shares his journey from South Africa to the NFL, highlighting the pivotal moments that shaped his career. Born in Johannesburg, Joseph moved to Florida at the age of seven, where he initially focused on soccer, rugby, and cricket. His transition to football began in high school when he was asked to kick after his friend, the team's kicker, pursued a soccer scholarship. Despite limited experience, Joseph walked on at Florida Atlantic University, where he faced significant challenges, including being cut from the team before ultimately securing a spot.

Joseph's professional journey includes stints with several NFL teams, including the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans, before joining the Vikings. He reflects on key moments in his career, such as his emotional performance in London against the New Orleans Saints, where he kicked a game-winning field goal in the stadium of his late grandfather's favorite team. He also recounts the thrilling experience of participating in the largest comeback in NFL history against the Indianapolis Colts, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and treating each kick the same, regardless of the stakes.

As he prepares to return to Minnesota for a game against the Colts, Joseph expresses excitement about reconnecting with former teammates and sharing the experience with his family. He acknowledges the support he received throughout his career, particularly from coaches and family, and considers future opportunities to help grow the game of football internationally, combining his passion for the sport with his background.
