Watene sat down with me and opened the door to parts of his life that most people would rather keep locked away. We spoke about a childhood shaped by chaos, a rough upbringing, gangs, anger, violence, addiction, and the kind of environments that can either swallow you whole or forge something powerful inside you.
This wasnāt a polished story. It was raw truth.
You can feel the weight of the battles he and his family have faced, the moments where life could have easily gone another direction, and the fire it takes to keep walking forward when the road behind you is full of scars.
But what hit me most about Watene is where he stands today.
A man who has taken that pain, that anger, that addiction and turned it into purpose. Someone who now uses his story, his experiences and his hard earned lessons to help guide others who are walking through similar darkness.
This episode isnāt about glorifying the struggle. Itās about understanding it.
Because when you sit across from someone who has lived through that kind of storm and come out the other side with a mission, you realise something⦠the past doesnāt have to define a man, but it can shape the strength he carries forward.
We only scratched the surface of Wateneās journey here, but even this small window into his life carries lessons about resilience, accountability, family, addiction, and what it really means to break cycles.
Sit back and come along for the conversation.

Back into full time construction now so timeās a bit limited. These descriptions can suck up more energy than the podcast itself, so Iām keeping them simple from here.
This episode we covered a few topics around kids and phones, Corey collapsing in the middle of no where and to be honest we donāt really know what else we spoke about š so if you wanna come along for the good times, have a listenšļøš
Sat down with Josh Hupfeld, the creator of the Better Half Journal, and just had a real, grounded chat.
The eldest stepping into high school. A threshold. The end of a season. The quiet grief and beauty that comes with watching your kids grow and something familiar slowly fall away.
This one didnāt come from theory. It came from family tension, addiction, and a moment that could have gone very differently.
