Story Summary: Johnny Dollar is sent to investigate a suspicious death involving the Arrowcraft family — a wealthy clan with a long history of internal conflict. The case begins with a simple insurance inquiry but quickly spirals into a tangle of: family resentment

hidden motives

a questionable will

and a death that may not be accidental

Johnny finds himself navigating a household full of tension. Everyone has something to hide. Everyone has a motive. And everyone seems terrified of the truth. As the week unfolds, Dollar uncovers: a forged document

a secret relationship

a financial scheme

and a killer who believes they've committed the perfect crime

The final episode delivers a classic Bailey confrontation — tense, emotional, and morally complex — revealing how greed can destroy even the closest families. Why This Episode Stands Out: Crutchfield's writing shines here. The Arrowcraft family is layered, flawed, and human, and Bailey's performance gives the story a slow‑burn intensity that builds toward a powerful finish.

Story Summary: Johnny Dollar travels overseas to London to investigate a case involving a missing insured man and a suspicious accident. The moment he arrives, he's plunged into a world of: fog‑shrouded streets

British police procedure

international insurance fraud

and a mystery that stretches across continents

The missing man's associates are evasive. His wife is terrified. His business dealings are questionable. And the deeper Johnny digs, the more he realizes the case may involve: smuggling

blackmail

and a staged disappearance

The climax unfolds in classic London noir fashion — dark alleys, tense confrontations, and a final reveal that forces Johnny to question who the real victim is. Why This Episode Stands Out: Bailey's chemistry with the British cast is superb, and Crutchfield's script blends American hard‑boiled detective work with British procedural style. It's one of the most atmospheric stories of the serial era.

⭐ Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar THE BOLT OUT OF THE BLUE MATTER Original Air Date: July 26, 1959 Starring: Bob Bailey Writer/Director: Jack Johnstone Supporting Cast: Virginia Gregg, Carlton G. Young, Ralph Moody, James McCallion Summary Johnny Dollar is dispatched to the storm‑swept Massachusetts coast after Thelma Jane Weatherby reports that her uncle, retired sea captain Amos Weatherby, is in mortal danger. As a violent storm rolls in, Johnny discovers Burton's elaborate murder setup: an old stone blockhouse once used as a sailing‑ship jail, now housing power company transformers. Burton plans to lure the captain inside and electrocute him by throwing a remote switch that energizes a metal railing. But nature intervenes. A lightning bolt strikes the tower's rod, surges down the wire, and detonates the installation — killing Burton instantly and leaving Johnny shaken but alive. With the threat ended, Johnny files his expense account (totaling $171.50) and signs off with his trademark closing: "End of report… Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar."
