Calgary Flames (3-6) host Detroit Red Wings (4-3-3) in a critical Western Conference matchup. After Devin Cooley's 36-save shutout performance against Minnesota, the Flames face a depleted roster with Mikael Backlund, Jonathan Huberdeau, and the Foligno brothers sidelined. Analysts discuss leveraging Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost's offensive production while relying on improved penalty kill efficiency.

Key players include Joel Farabee, who led scoring against the Wild, and goalie Devin Cooley, whose recent form offers hope for the struggling team. Tactical focuses include neutral-zone pressure and power-play conversion rates, essential for overcoming Detroit's speed. The injury list significantly impacts line combinations, forcing younger players like Matt Coronato and Matvei Gridin into larger roles.

This preview analyzes the Flames' path to climbing the 13th-place standing, referencing their recent 2-1 victory over Minnesota and 3-2 win against Carolina. Expect discussions on defensive zone exits, line matchups, and whether the Flames can replicate their structured play against a competitive Red Wings squad.
