Episode 113: Nasum – Swedish Grindcore Royalty
In Episode 113 of The Metal List, we dive headfirst into the blastbeat chaos, relentless velocity, and brutal precision of Swedish Grindcore icons... Nasum!
Find out why Jason asks, "What's the Bell Witch equivalent of Country?"
We explore how this powerhouse act transformed extreme music, taking Grindcore from noisy chaos into tightly wound, crushingly heavy art. From fast riffs and seminal albums to weird tangents (why would Pearl Jam come up in a Grindcore episode?) and plenty of love for Mieszko’s legacy, this one is for longtime Grind fans and curious newcomers alike.
In this episode, we break down: • The Swedish Grindcore Blueprint: How Nasum raised the bar for speed, precision, and songwriting in extreme music. • The Essential Albums: Breaking down classics like Inhale/Exhale, Human 2.0, Helvete, and Shift. • The Legacy of Mieszko Talarczyk: Celebrating the brilliant production, riffing, and vocal intensity of Mieszko (RIPD) • Tangents & Deep Dives: Unpacking Jason's Bell Witch comparison, unexpected Pearl Jam references, and why Nasum still hits so hard today.
