Killer Thriller x Docu: Trick or Terror: When Halloween Turns Deadly

True Crime Reality

Summary

A special Halloween episode delves into three chilling true crime cases linked to the holiday, highlighting the darker side of Halloween festivities. The first case recounts the 1957 murder of Peter Fabiano, a beauty salon owner in California, who was shot by a masked figure at his doorstep. Investigators later uncovered a plot involving his wife Betty and her friend Joan Rabel, who conspired to have Peter killed due to personal conflicts. Both Rabel and her accomplice received sentences ranging from five years to life, while Betty faced no charges.

The second case involves a tragic family massacre in 2010, where 16-year-old Devin Griffin returned home to find his mother, brother, and stepfather brutally murdered. The perpetrator, William B.J. Liskey Jr., was arrested and later sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the crimes. The emotional toll on Devin, who discovered the bodies, is profound and raises questions about the impact of such trauma on a young survivor.

The final case is perhaps the most infamous, involving the 1974 poisoning of eight-year-old Timothy O'Brien by his father, Ronald O'Brien. Facing severe financial difficulties, Ronald laced Halloween candy with cyanide, resulting in his son's death. This case not only shocked the nation but also instigated widespread fear around trick-or-treating, leading to changes in how parents approached Halloween safety. Ronald was convicted of capital murder, highlighting the tragic consequences of his actions.

The latest online controversy is heartbreaking, namely because there is a super talented, 3-year-old little boy in the middle of it. Nevada Pierre has a huge and growing social media presence because he’s got game; the videos posted show a toddler phenom on the soccer field and that’s what his parents say got other parents upset at a youth soccer game over the weekend. The sports organizer ultimately called 9-1-1 on the parents - admittedly not for an emergency - but because he claimed the mom was “unruly” after complaining her son was taken out of the game because he was “too good.” The highlight of this story: the cops, whose body cam footage shows officers who were there to protect and serve everyone that day.
