Summary
The discussion centers on the mysterious disappearance of Richard Myers, a 50-year-old dentist from Squim, Washington, who vanished in 2004 while reportedly going fishing. His boat was later found abandoned, raising questions about his fate. The timeline of Myers' disappearance coincides with the activities of Israel Keyes, a known serial killer, who had a history of boating and fishing in the same area. The investigation into Myers' case reveals several peculiar coincidences, including Keyes' presence in the vicinity and his pattern of targeting individuals resembling Myers.
Keyes' timeline and behavioral changes around the time of Myers' disappearance suggest a potential connection. He had recently changed his appearance and was known to frequent local coffee shops where he interacted with women, including a barista who later reported unsettling behavior from him. The circumstances of Myers' disappearance, including the location of his boat and the lack of witnesses, further complicate the case, leading to speculation about whether he could be another victim of Keyes.
The conversation highlights the broader context of unsolved disappearances in the Olympic Peninsula, an area marked by its isolation and jurisdictional disputes. The discussion emphasizes the need for further investigation into the numerous missing persons cases linked to Keyes, as patterns of behavior and victimology emerge that warrant closer scrutiny.
Show Notes
A disappearance from neighboring tribal lands, with an eerie litany of coincidences to Keyes's known MO and crimes, makes it both impossible to overlook Keyes nor how this disappearance may have inspired future crimes.
