Govind Sandhu has lived a life most people would dream of. Born in India, raised in New Zealand, and built for adventure, he spent years travelling the world working for some of the biggest brands on the planet including Red Bull and TikTok. By every measure, he was thriving.
Then everything changed.
While living in Austria working for Red Bull, Govind lost his dad. And because of COVID, he couldn't get home. No funeral. No family. No closure. Just grief, alone, on the other side of the world.
Not long after, at the peak of his health and fitness, he was diagnosed with blood cancer.
And then he lost his partner.
Three of the heaviest things a human being can carry, arriving in the same chapter of his life. With no roadmap, no playbook, and at times no way home.
This episode is not a story about falling apart. It is a story about what it actually takes to keep going when life gives you every reason not to. Govind is one of the most open, grounded, and genuinely resilient people I have sat across from, and this conversation will stay with me for a long time.
If you have ever had to find your way through something that felt impossible, this one is for you.
In this episode we cover: Govind's journey from India to New Zealand and building a global career with Red Bull and TikTok Losing his dad while living abroad in Austria and being unable to return home due to COVID What it felt like to be diagnosed with blood cancer at the peak of his health, not long after The loss of his partner and how he carried so much grief at once What resilience actually looks like when it is being tested in real time The mindset shifts that helped him move forward without bypassing the pain How he found meaning and purpose on the other side of the hardest chapter of his life What he wants other people to know when they are in the middle of their own storm

I loved this one. Alexis has spent over a decade inside marketing, media and PR, so she knows exactly how our attention gets engineered. And she’s honest enough to call herself a tech addict too. Her new book Real: Reconnecting to Yourself in a World of Likes and Lies is three years in the making, and it’s all about how social media messes with who we think we are, and how to take that back. If you’ve ever closed an app feeling worse about yourself, this one’s for you.
This was a fascinating chat. Dr Joy Kong started out as a psychiatrist and addiction doctor before becoming one of the leading voices in stem cell therapy. She’s UCLA-trained, triple board-certified, and the founder of Chara Health in Los Angeles and the American Academy of Integrative Cell Therapy, where she trains doctors around the world. Joy cuts through the hype and tells it straight about what stem cells can and can’t do, and why she thinks we might be the first generation to reverse ageing. If you’re curious about longevity and where medicine is heading, you’ll love this one.
This week I sat down with Chris Mater, and this one is a masterclass in building a career by backing yourself at every turn.
