More from Her Holy Health
You love Jesus. You eat healthy. You have discipline. So why are you STILL struggling with gluttony, overeating, and feeling controlled by food? What if your constant striving to lose weight, heal your body, and eat perfectly is actually keeping you in bondage? In Episode 19 of Her Holy Health, we're exposing the third root of gluttony: performance-based healing. So many Christian women have turned biblical stewardship into perfectionism, control, and self-sufficiency. But you can eat the cleanest diet in the world and still be mastered by food. Galatians 3:3 (ESV) asks, "Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?" In this episode, you'll discover why trying harder isn't the answer, how performance-based healing keeps you trapped in the restrict-and-overeat cycle, and how to begin surrendering your health journey to the Holy Spirit. We'll also walk through my practical PRAY method to help you move from striving to surrender. Sis, you are not your savior. Jesus is.
EP 18 | Mastered by Food: When Emotional Coping Turns to Gluttony Have you ever wondered why you keep turning to food when you're stressed, anxious, lonely, or overwhelmed? What if your struggle with emotional eating isn't actually about food, but about what you've been turning to for comfort? In today's episode of Her Holy Health, we're exposing the second root of gluttony: emotional coping. For years, I turned to food to soothe emotions I didn't know how to process. But here's what the Lord revealed to me: Food was created to nourish your body, but it was never created to shepherd your soul. Together, we're diving into what Scripture teaches about gluttony, food idolatry, and being mastered by our appetites. I'll share my personal testimony, explore 1 Corinthians 6:12 and Matthew 11:28–30, and teach you the four-question BBM Pause to help you recognize emotional eating patterns and begin turning to Jesus instead of food for comfort. Because breaking free from gluttony isn't about another restrictive diet, more willpower, or controlling food harder. It's about addressing the deeper roots and learning to depend on the One who offers true rest. If you're a Christian woman struggling with emotional eating, overeating, food guilt, or feeling out of control around food, this episode is for you. ------- Resources + Links FREE COURSE: Break gluttony in 90 days https://stan.store/iamjaclynrenee/p/free-course-break-gluttony Join The Biblical Body Method Program + Sisterhood Communityjaclynrenee.co/bbm
Is food taking up more space in your mind and heart than God ever intended? In this episode of Her Holy Health, we’re diving into the first root of gluttony: restriction. Years of dieting, cutting carbs, counting calories, undereating, fasting, and trying to control your body can actually leave you more consumed with food, not less. I’m exposing three common lies that keep women stuck in restriction and food bondage: Carbs are bad. You have to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. You need to “eat like a bird” to be healthy or thin. We’ll talk about how restriction can fuel overeating, guilt, shame, food obsession, and eventually turn food, health, and your body into an idol. Most importantly, we’re bringing it all back to biblical truth and talking about what it looks like to surrender your relationship with food to Jesus, nourish your body without fear, and practice self-control without deprivation. If you’re tired of starting over Monday, obsessing over what you ate, fearing certain foods, or feeling like food has way too much power over your life, this episode is for you. It’s time to stop letting diet culture disciple your relationship with food and start letting God transform it. What if your struggle with food isn’t really about food? You can change your diet, count calories, restrict harder, promise yourself you’ll “start again Monday”—and still find yourself right back in the same cycle. Because sometimes we’re trying to change the fruit without ever addressing the root. In this episode of Her Holy Health, I’m exposing the 4 roots of gluttony I see keeping Christian women stuck in food bondage: Restriction and control Emotional coping Performance-based healing and self-sufficiency Bitterness and unforgiveness We’ll talk about how diet and wellness culture can reinforce these patterns, how the enemy can use food and body obsession to distract you from your God-given purpose, and what Scripture teaches us about self-control, surrender, stewardship, and true freedom. If food is taking up more mental, emotional, or spiritual space in your life than you want it to, this episode is for you. It’s time to stop fighting the fruit and ask God to reveal the root. --------- Resources + Links FREE COURSE: Break gluttony in 90 days https://stan.store/iamjaclynrenee/p/free-course-break-gluttony
For nearly 30 years, I battled a toxic relationship with food. I struggled with gluttony, food addiction, emotional eating, restriction, body obsession, and the constant cycle of striving to "fix" myself. I searched for freedom through diets, fitness, functional medicine, supplements, holistic health, and even New Age practices. While many of those things helped my physical body, none of them healed the deeper bondage I was carrying. Everything changed when I surrendered my life to Jesus. In this deeply personal episode of Her Holy Health, I share my complete testimony of how Christ broke me free from the bondage of gluttony, healed my relationship with food, and revealed that the greatest battle was never about food—it was about my heart. In this episode, we'll discuss: My 30-year journey with food addiction and body image
